kunal sir this company from TATA makes remote control weapon station
Tata Power Strategic Electronics Division :: Product Range and Capabilities

check Weapon Systems and their Upgradation for Ground Forces
item no (XII)

that means TATA can easily install those RCWS at those anti land mine armour vehicle.

Its also states 155mm/52cal tracked Howitzers ?

I think the product is from a second/third party collaboration..

Anyways, a RCWS is something must have, Not only the fire power but its long range optics with thermal are very good in hunting tangos..

Light armoured vehicle to help police, paramilitary ops

PTI

A Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV), which can be useful for police and paramilitary forces during counter-terrorism and anti-naxal operations, was launched here today.

The vehicle named 'Sherpa', with a maximum speed of 160 kmph, is an ideal force multiplier in war against naxals and terrorists and can even be used as a Command Vehicle Operations in urban areas, Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions officials said in a statement.

The eight-seater vehicle developed in a joint programme with Ford India, is an indigenous vehicle designed keeping in mind the operational requirements of police and paramilitary forces, they said.

The LAV has been built upon the chassis of a Ford Endeavour.

"Our company has designed Sherpa to aid security forces in counter-insurgency, anti-Naxal operations and enhance combat efficiency of the commandos," Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions Director Anil Verma said.

The Indian company has built armoured vehicles earlier also including the armoured troop carrier Dhruv and mine-protection vehicle Drona.

Sherpa, light armoured vehicle, launched

MSN

New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) An indigenous light armoured vehicle designed keeping in mind the operational requirements of the police and paramilitary forces was launched at the ongoing homeland security exhibition here Monday.

Based on the Ford Endeavour SUV, the Sherpa has been developed by Shri Lakshmi Defence Solutions Ltd (SLDS) in a joint programme with Ford India.

'The 2+6 seater vehicle with maximum speed of 160 kmph is an ideal force multiplier in the war against Naxals (Maoists) and terrorists, even in an urban scenario, especially for command vehicle operations,' an SLDS statement said.

'The Ford Endeavour's chassis, with one of the highest ground clearance and largest wheelbase in its class, was a clear winner for modification as a light armoured vehicle. With its unique safety features and rigidity of frame, the vehicle can tackle any terrain and prove useful as a force multiplier for homeland security,' the statement added.

According to SLDS director Anil Kumar Verma, the Sherpa has been designed 'to aid the security forces in counter-insurgency and anti-Maoist operations and to enhance their combat efficiency'.

Speaking at the launch, Nigel Wark, executive director (Marketing, Sales and Service) of Ford India, said: 'The Endeavour, with its superior build quality, durability and powerful transmission, can prove to be a reliable vehicle in all types of terrain and will match gruelling operational requirements.'

SLDS already produces a range of security-related vehicles including the Viper fast-moving attack vehicle, the Dhruv armoured troop carrier and the Drona blast and mine protection vehicle.

The company's parent, Shri Lakshmi Cotsyn Ltd, has been supplying safety textiles such as bio-chemical, high altitude fabric, bullet-proof jackets and bullet-proof helmets, camouflage fabrics, uniform fabric, IR fabric and carbon fabric to Indian defence establishments.

yeah what you are talking about is Remote control weapon station it is made by OFB

info here

Ordnance Factory Board
Is this a ToT from a European nation or Israel?

OFB doesn't really develop anything, just manufactures it.

I think this is a TOT like the 30 mm CRN-91 automatic gun OFB builts, which is TOT from Russia.

Its Not true, Insas is 100% OFB product..
It Manufactures it DRDO designed it and put the R&D to make it. This is a DRDO made/designed,etc? Or TOT which OFB does like with the CRN-91 automatic gun.

INSAS has been in development since the mid-1980s under the auspices of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) and Armaments Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune.
Bharat Rakshak MONITOR

The CRN-91 Naval gun is a naval version of the Medak 30mm automatic gun installed on the Sarath Infantry fighting vehicle, a variant of the Russian (originally Soviet) BMP-2 manufactured in India under license by the Ordnance Factory Medak. The Medak gun itself is based on the Russian Shipunov 2A42 30 mm automatic cannon.

The CRN-91 Naval gun is controlled by an electro-optic fire control system for day and night use, developed and jointly produced by the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

CRN-91 Naval gun is just TOT from Russia and OFB manufactures it, is it the same for the "Remote control weapon station".. Or is it Indian effort??

Now they say its a joint venture between OFB and BEL to make the electro-optic fire control system for the Naval gun, but I think it was BELs R&D. Same with INSAS with OFB and ARDE-DRDO. I think the Armaments Research and Development Establishment is the one putting in the R&D to produce it. OFB just manufacturers it in the end.

OFB does manufacture INSAS, but manufacturing is not the only thing they do. They also do research. Check the post below:

PDC: Pre-Discharge Chamber

There has been enough speculation about the short cylinder under the barrel of the Kalantak'07, highlighted in red boxes in the two images below:

Name: It is called the PDC or Pre-Discharge Chamber.

Operation: When the bullet passes the gas-outlet on top, some of the gas goes into the gas-pipe on the top of the barrel and pushes the piston back. Now, the bullet travels further forward and part of the remaining expanding gas gets into the PDC under the barrel and expands (and cools down due to Joule-Thompson effect). As the bullet exits the barrel, there is a sudden reduction in pressure at the barrel end and the the gas inside the PDC is sucked out.

Purpose: Reduction of the temperature, and consequently, the flash of the exhaust gas following discharge of the bullet from the barrel; the flash being otherwise extremely noticeable in short barreled firearms.

Patent: Yes. Owned by OFB.

Source: My 'friend', a junior employee at RFI today asked his 'sir' and actually met one of the scientists who perfected this device.
Now let us get back to Armoured Vehicles and for any discussion on INSAS, please go to the relevant thread. The above quote may be used to go to the relevant thread.
