@Nuvneet Kundu, certainly true. The Apache is peerless in low detection and EW. Also imho, great at crossing borders during invasion following the first line of fighter jets. We should get these no doubt. Not much use comparing them to Hinds though. Hinds can carry troops as well as is a heavy combat chopper with tremendous firepower, different class, if you ask me.
True.

I don't think the Americans have anything that is in a class with the Hinds. They will have to mix a Blackhawk and an Apache to have something similar to Mi-24/35.

Also, since IAF/IA are looking at Apaches, maybe they should also look at Russian or South African choppers as well (since we have BRICS). Some Ka-52s would be nice.

The IAF never used their Mi-24/35 as troop carriers but as dedicated gunships hence why the Apache is the logical replacment for them. There is no need for another foreign attack helicopter purchase, the Ah-64Es take care of the heavy attack role and the LCHs will be ordered in huge numbers to support them- job done.

Some Ka52s would be really nice. However, I don't think Russia is interested in selling those. Afaik, we have some KA50s.

I think army will receive first batch of LCH in couple of years. AH-64 may also start arriving in the same timeframe.

The Mil35 will soldier on until enough new models arrive.

Retire these relics of the past ASAP and replace them with ALH, the future battle ground is the High altitude of Laddakh, AP or LOC.Mi 24 Akbar served the country well in IPKF where LTTE feared these beast and used to call it Crocodile.

Hinds place would be taken by Rudra a transport cum Attack heli.

Apache is a pipe dream till 2020 at least or may be scrapped all together.

True even Russian are replacing them with armed Ka 60 and Ka 62,they are old now ,I would have prefared Ka 52 over apace as due to coaxial rotar it has better high altitude performance, apace is good if it comes with ToT but India should work on improving LCH.

Ka-60 is a utility transport.

Russian Hinds are to be replaced by a combination of Ka-52 Alligator and Mi-28N Havoc.

That said, I don't know why everyone is suddenly worried about Mi-35's age? It's replacement (Apache) has already been ordered and is well on it's way. LCH is also nearing induction.

Why the worry? It's not like the Hinds are crashing everywhere or something.

Ye bhai delay toh hote rehte hain. Sirf Bharat mein nhi, pure dunya mein. Look at F-35 program.

Not every delayed deal is scrapped...most of them are still being acquired in one way or another. About the Apache, order has already been signed & sealed. Money already paid. What's the point of cancelling it now?

The only advantage i see in Apache is MMW radar mounted on top which US denied to most countries.

In any case, if we can develop a MMW friend or foe type system and successfully installed on T 90 then i Don't see Apache is any better than Mi 28 and KA 50/52

Russians offered us Mi 28 way back but we refused now pakis might buy that too after Mi 35 and here we are flying Apache in our pipe dreams.

O bhai what about F 35 ? They already had a F 22 prototype up and flying in 90s and even if we take F 35 as a example Indian Defence procurement sucks and worse with general apathy for anything Indian.

And when did we paid for Apaches ?

No M 777, Apaches, S 400 or chinook coming before 2020 if it all these deals materialise.

Apache and Chinook deals have been sealed, deliveries are coming 2018/2019.

The India Ministry of Defence has finalized its order with Boeing [NYSE: BA] for production, training and support of Apache and Chinook helicopters that will greatly enhance India’s capabilities across a range of military and humanitarian missions.

What space, Rafale was rejected in initial evaluations makes a come back in suspicious manner Google it.

Ministry of defence also finalised S 400 even a G to G agreement signed by Modi and Hollande nothing materialise after one year.

The point is that deals finalised by MOD doesn't matter take S 400 as example.

As for other deals like M 777 lets remove the word will, next few and could for a proper discussion.

That's is about, 5 years old information?

Raflae deal is going through.

Ministry of defence also finalised S 400
That was only from a few ill informed defence jounros- the MoD/GoI never offically stated this nor did the Russian side.

Of course it matters what the MoD clears- that's how deals are signed in India.
The DAC had never cleared the S-400.
As for other deals like M 777 lets remove the word will, next few and could for a proper discussion.
Where have you been? M777 will be signed in th enext few weeks, BAE systems has tied up with Mahindra and will sign the final deal in coming weeks

http://www.janes.com/article/58058/us-finalises-proposal-for-m777-howitzer-sale-to-india

That's because India is buying AH 64E (allegedly)

Egypt never got the MMW Radar with their Apache i think.
India isn't Egypt, the US has already cleared the Longbow radar's sale to India:

If the Government of India selects the Boeing-U.S. Army proposal, the Government of India will request a possible sale of 50 T700-GE-701D engines, 12 AN/APG-78 Fire Control Radars, 12 AN/APR-48A Radar Frequency Interferometers, 812 AGM-114L-3 HELLFIRE LONGBOW missiles, 542 AGM-114R-3 HELLFIRE II missiles, 245 STINGER Block I-92H missiles, and 23 Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensors, rockets, training and dummy missiles, 30mm ammunition, transponders, simulators, global positioning system/inertial navigation systems, communication equipment, spare and repair parts; tools and test equipment, support equipment, repair and return support, personnel training and training equipment; publications and technical documentation, U.S. Government and contractor engineering and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics support to be provided in conjunction with a proposed direct commercial sale of 22 AH-64D Block III APACHE Helicopters.
