Indian army in Afghanistan? No indications it is there today except to protect Indians employed in embassy or engineers in civil projects.

A bigger role to fight Taliban? Quite possible and may be needed too. However I agree that losses could be high; and security of bases is a big challenge.

The biggest problem in Afghanistan is Afghan army is full of Taliban sympathizers.

Will be a disastrous decision!

We will be literally in Pakistan's playground. Porous Af-Pak border is heaven for SF tactical operations, and Afganistan being lawless and unguarded, easy to hide, escape and mingle with the population.
With our AD systems already in crunch defending cities and military installations, supplying few to Afganistan will be counterproductive. So, our forces become turkey shoot for Pakistani AF.

Only possible way of leveraging Afganistan is placing our jets in Afganistan, and distracting PAF by flying sorties to Pakistani western border so that already limited resource of PAF is stretched even more.
That's right.. India sending any substantial force... and sustaining it in Afghanistan is bull shit... The logistics itself will be exhorbitantly expensive... You are correct ... Killing Indian soldiers in Afghanistan, will be so easy for PA, as opposed to killing IA soldiers in Kashmir, or other parts of India...

We are only there to protect our embassies.. Any substantial military presence, and India will be making new enemies among the locals... And Pakistan will be thrilled, as it will be able to kill our soldiers at will...

OGRA seeks 47 per cent increase in gas tariffs
After up to 143 per cent hike in gas prices last year, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Friday sought up to 47 per cent increase in the prices of gas for the fiscal year 2019-2020.

Well played OGRA!!!
with price of commodities on the rise and nothing to cook...you can increase the gas tariff to 100% and pakis wont complain!!

Pak rupee loses ground in fresh round of depreciation

The Pakistani rupee hit a new all-time low of Rs149.35 to the US dollar in the inter-bank market on Friday. This is the second successive day when rupee continued to lose ground against the greenback under the fresh round of depreciation.

Its absurd to think that there will be Indian army boots on afghan soil , Afghans love India but they hate presence of foreign troops

But what will be the short and long term costs for India if Taliban regains power as opposed to a friendly government? Especially given the influence of Pakistan over the Taliban..

By the way this is my first post so hello everyone :yo:

By the way this is my first post so hello everyone :yo:
1) If Taliban Regains power..we wont be able to balance pakistan from the western end.
2) our Water war against pakistan will have adverse impacts as we are also aligning with afghan to build dams in Afghan on the rivers that flows into pakistan.
3) The Mandala Concept of our foreign policy will need a workaround.
4)Our investments in afghan will be in jeopardy.
5)Our commitments as a nation with strong soft power and diplomatic strength will get questioned vis a vis pakistan.
6) More trouble in J&K with Taliban and other terror factories which will mushroom in Afghan.

And a lot other issues.

IMO Taliban wont come to power.USA is pressing a game here and lets see!

We have assets and business interests to protect in Afghan... naturally the move is justified..not to fight afghan war but to protect our assets which we made for Afghan economy.
IMO the calculations we may be doing right now would be to ensure steady oil supply so that no price jerks happen causing internal inflation crisis. Secondly Chahbahar operations and clandestine Baloch Opns ( if any ) would automatically be affected, causing respite to Imran and team. Mutliple ramifications there. Means Pak would refocus on Kashmir and China would secure cpec. Multiple problems coming our way if Iran goes in shit.

Oil..yes..but a lot of it is rerouted from African nations..Dont know the actual figures..but yes oil from African nations may be able to absorb some shock.
Americans badly wanted to get Iran and they have made up their mind. US elections are nearing and they would need an enemy for the campaigning.
Chabahar will get affected.. .. its a delicate situation.

pak should be economically destroyed to the maximum.. almost all the companies under FAUJ FOUNDATION Of pakkistan is suffering huge losses and is in negative on the accounts... so..their ability to FUND kashmir cause will be seriously hampered.
Need to take paki economy into dust further that they wont be able to afford the K with the chinese.

I think an air force component and a special forces component is quite feasible; but these will have to work under the guidance of Afghan government. Most likely based in Tajikistan.

'Making new enemies' is a phrase not worth using as Taliban is basically ISI child; so these are as anti-India as it gets.

Boss my thinking is America does not want to attack Iran, else it would have happened by now.
Americans love using economic weapon.
America is already bleeding elsewhere and it needs to trim its defence budget. Why America wants to get out of Afghanistan?

America is onboard on Chabahar. Methinks any action against Iran will be symbolic only.

One of the reasons that the afghans love India is that India is not yet in the business of killing afghans.. Counter insurgency requires a large footprint... If we get into this business in Afghanistan, there will be substantial collateral damage with a number of civilians getting killed... And thus we will be making new enemies. (not just among the Taliban..)
But , I agree with you that we can have a special forces contingent, for operations like decapitation strikes against the Taliban, but working under the Afghan government..

An invasion of Iran won't be a cakewalk like Iraq.. Iran is a fortress surrounded by mountains and deserts and marshes, and most of the biggest cities are in the mountainous North .. Yes, the US prefers the economic sanctions route as it is a low cost option...

IRAN has tunnels and a huge network of it and its another vietnam in the making for USA!
