You are absolutely right.

Use of aerial weapons in contact battle is very dangerous. Ask some Veteran SF guys how many of those suffered wounds and fatalities from Mi-35 firing in Sri Lanka. Injuries or deaths due to own fire is very demoralising. When MI-35 fires he is about 1-2 km high and may be 1-2 km away.It is difficult for him to distinguish between own troops and enemy. He sees movement and starts firing.

Villages in mountainous ares are isolated, sparse and less populated. One can target those and destroy everything.

But in a place like j&K it is a big No. In mountainous barren areas and jungles the service ceiling would not allow it to be used at those heights.

I suspect emphasis on PGMs will restart after the success of balakot. Whether we use it or not internally is a different issue, but after current DRDO SANT becomes operational more fine tuning will be done for other applications with the same tech.
