Re your comments on air power use--fully agree with that
Hope the ultimate aim is balkanisation with the short term goal of decreasing infiltration/repealing 35A and finally 370
But for all dominos to fall in place, a 10-15 year strategy is needed. And for that, the BJP and Modi's successor have to be equally strong and focussed. Modi will not be there forever. Countries always outlast individuals.
And to aid that, our economy has to constantly grow at 7-9%. And to ensure that Paki economy remains in a freefall.
Covert support to breakaway elements in Pakistan is stepped up
Hasina and successors always win in Bangladesh ( have to ensure internal peace )
Afghanistan and Iran ( delicate balancing ) remain friends; UAE and KSA come closer.
Central Asian republics maintain friendship
And the political climate in USA has to be favourable along with State Department thinking-we need both, not just the politicians:biggrin2::biggrin2:
As you can see, many variables. So, whatever is happening, is just the beginning.
I think the very nature of current operations (extremely discrete) is inconsistent with use of air power. Initial use of air power had 2 purposes...... Local consumption and breaking pak nuclear spell.
I am not sure of modi's intentions, whether it is to reduce infiltration or balkanisation of pakistan. Clearly, the kind of support being received from USA would suggest that a bigger game is being played, that will tackle afganistan, taliban , cpec and China together. Again, not sure about timescales..... If pakistsn responds publically (air attack) , it will become a very public event. Otherwise, it will remain discrete, but I don't see any incentive for modi to back off. Comments......
