A water cooled carbon moderated metal fueled natural uranium pile running at 0.8 GW would burn down 1 kg in a day, and generate about 0.6 kg of Pu (weapons grade) a day, so it would take approx 9 days to generate the material for a bomb. Thus we can produce 30 - 40 bombs a year if we wanted to. We've been in this business for 20 years so mathematically we could have produced 600 to 800 nukes by now if we wanted to! :biggrin2:How long does it take to build a warhead from a ready stock of fissile material?
