Give it a break, all traditions may come off as discriminative and not everything is bad.....looking everything from this pov will lead to nothing good. No one is getting killed by this discrimination and probably some of these groups and their ancestors earned a bit of preference. Erasing every bit of identity is an irrational endeavor that goes against human nature.
