Abhinandan did a YOLO, chased the Glide Bomb dropping F-16 into Pakistan, shot it with R-73, did a barrel roll and tried to return back when a AIM-120 got him.

All of these has been debunked. Locals in PoK (one of them ex-Army officer) specifically mentioned he saw 2 pilots parachuting down, both captured. DG ISPR tweeted both pilots captured and then later retracted to only 1 captured. Heck, even in the video where Abhinandan was getting roughed up after getting captured, the police/army personnel were screaming "lets get the second one".

These all are independent evidence apart from the fact that IAF has consistently maintained same story & narrative, with electronic proof & sighting by BoP op. Thanamandi.

Actually DGISPR initially claimed they were 3 pilots.

My point is it should NEVER have come down to a stalemate to let "global powers" intervene. 27th was a over the border Ground Attack against a "not so secret" stat proxy. The next day was an opportunity to spank the Very State. (not to mention an opportunity to dent the inventory of the PAF)

I will say, Feb 27th was overall a failure on our side, but only when it comes to presentation. Pak won the media war, but this is to be expected as americans have some soft spot for the Paks and that this was an american aircraft that was downed.

However, had it not been for officers on the ground, it could’ve ended up much worse. The fact is that this merely another case of poor planning by higher ups and saving grace by the ground officers.

Thank you for being the first person on here to give an objective analysis on the conflict. This conflict was a failure of epic proportions. However, the myth of the Israeli war machine only seemed to persist in indian defense circles. Many outside knew this was to happen.

Israeli infantry is largely untrained, unbattle hardened, and their conflict in 2006 showed that they can be stalemated extremely easily.

Well, problem is we are judging our entire AF by a battle (not even an skirmish) which lasted ~5 mins. 24 planes did not intrude inside our territory, they kept a huge margin and shot BVRs & loitering munitions instead.

Pakistan broke SOPs and shot BVRs at us which was unprecedented till that time, and got us surprised for few minutes on how to react, which was exploited by Pakistan. Abhinandan's idiocracy is a different story which couldn't have been factored into normal planning.



Its a myth that Western forces are more competent. US & Israel yes, because they are constantly at conflict and keeping their blades sharp. Any European AF without US coordination & air cover will be just same.

Only Israeli AF is ever more incompetent. Their infantry is a complete joke.
