Breaking: Netanyahu calls on rival Gantz to form national unity government

"During the election campaign, I called for the establishment of a right-wing government but to my regret, the election results show that this is impossible. Benny, we must set up a broad unity government, as soon as today. The nation expects us, both of us, to demonstrate responsibility and that we pursue cooperation," Netanyahu says. PM's call comes shortly after tally of absentee ballots shows Blue and White with 33 mandates to Likud's 31.

Now US is using Lieberman to test loyalty of block it will support. This is done on behalf of wealthy American Jews without whose money no party could operate. Hence a Mega PAC is running the show in Israel.

Situation for deciding on the mandate of PM has become a mury quagmire. Joint List aka Arabs will give outside support to Gantz from B&W to form minority government provided Lieberman of Yisrael Beiteinu gives the recommendation as well.

If the Arabs reach the government , Israel is fucked. Lieberman if he supports this will lose out the next time an election is held, which is very much possible.

Sources in the Joint List now confirm: we're going to recommend Gantz for prime minister
@Haaretz

Reports indicate that Yisrael Beiteinu have decided not to recommend a candidate to President Rivlin. If this is true, neither Gantz or Netanyahu will reach 61 recommendations. In such a scenario, President Rivlin will give the mandate to whoever he think has the best chance.

Gantz is still in better position to receive first shot - whether it's a good thing or not is another question but Kachol Lavan have decided that it is.

Looks like Trump may have dumped Netanyahu in the run up to the election. Could explain the muted response as compared to April 2019 elections.

Tillerson: Netanyahu, Israelis 'played' Trump

By ARREN KIMBEL-SANNIT | 09/19/2019 02:00 PM EDT | Updated 09/19/2019 02:49 PM EDT

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Wednesday that Israeli officials "played" President Donald Trump in their conversations with him, warning that a "healthy amount of skepticism" is needed in dealings with Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

The comments came during a panel discussion at Harvard University in which Tillerson, who was fired by the president last year, touched on a variety of themes from his tenure, including Iran, his hiring freeze at the State Department and the unpredictable nature of Israel's longest-serving prime minister, Netanyahu.

"They did that with the president on a couple of occasions, to persuade him that ‘We’re the good guys, they’re the bad guys,’" Tillerson said, according to the Harvard Gazette. "We later exposed it to the president so he understood, ‘You’ve been played.’”

He cautioned that skepticism is necessary when dealing with Netanyahu, whom Tillerson called "a bit Machiavellian."

The Israeli Prime Minister's office responded to the former secretary of state via Twitter, writing, "Secretary Tillerson, Israel *is* the good guy."

Netanyahu, a close ally of Trump, faces an uncertain future. Israel held its second parliamentary election in six months this week, and it appears that Netanyahu's right-wing, Likud party will be unable to win a governing majority in the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament. Instead, it appears Likud and the centrist Blue and White Party will have an even number of seats in the Knesset, leaving Netanyahu's future as prime minister uncertain.

Benny Gantz, who leads the Blue and White Party, said he's open to a coalition government but not a power-sharing agreement with Netanyahu.

Tillerson said Wednesday that he supported during his tenure a two-state solution to the long-running conflict between Israel and Palestine, a plan that would put him at odds with Netanyahu's stance.

"I did believe that we were at a moment in time where perhaps we could chart a way where the Arab world could support an outcome that the Palestinians might not think was perfect — and in the past, if it wasn’t perfect, it didn’t happen — but with enough encouragement, pressure from the Arab world, that we could get it close enough that the Palestinians would finally agree,” he said at the Harvard panel. “And in my view, it was a two-state solution.”

India and Israel sign a three-year work program for cooperation in Agriculture

Indo-Israel villages of excellence to create a model ecosystem in Agriculture

The work program 2021-2023 will strengthen India-Israel bilateral relationship: Shri Narendra Singh Tomar

Posted On: 24 MAY 2021 3:59PM by PIB Delhi

Taking forward the ever-growing partnership in agriculture between Israel and India, the two governments have agreed to enhance their cooperation in agriculture and signed a three-year work program agreement for development in Agriculture cooperation, while affirming the ever-growing bilateral partnership and recognizing the centrality of agriculture and water sectors in the bilateral relationship.

India and Israel are implementing the “INDO-ISRAEL Agricultural Project Centres of Excellence” and “INDO-ISRAEL Villages of Excellence”.

MIDH, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India, and MASHAV - Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation - are leading Israel’s largest G2G cooperation, with 29 operational Centres of Excellence (COEs) across India in 12 States, implementing Advanced-Intensive agriculture farms with Israeli Agro-Technology tailored to local conditions. The Centres of Excellence generate knowledge, demonstrate best practices and train farmers. Every year, these COEs produce more than 25 million quality vegetable seedlings, more than 387 thousand quality fruit plants and train more than 1.2 lakh farmers about latest technology in the field of horticulture.

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare said that the agriculture sector always remains a priority for India. Due to the agrarian policies of the Government of India, there is a definite change in the lives of the farmers and the agriculture sector. Increasing the farmers' income is the determination of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The minister said that India and Israel have had bilateral relations since 1993 in the agricultural sector. This is the 5th IIAP. “So far, we have successfully completed 4 action plans. This new work programme will further strengthen the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture for the benefit of the farming community. The COEs established under these Israeli-based action plans are playing an important role in doubling farmers’ income. The exchange of technology between India and Israel will greatly improve the productivity and quality of horticulture, thereby increasing the income of farmers”, he added.

Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare said, “These Centers of Excellence established under Indo-Israel Agriculture Action Plan (IIAP) have become epicentres of transformation in horticulture sector. Our focus during the new work programme will be to convert the villages surrounding these COEs into Villages of Excellence through massive outreach programmes”.

Ambassador Dr. Ron Malka said, “The three-year work program (2021-2023) reflects the strength of our growing partnership and will benefit local farmers both through the Centers of Excellence and the Villages of Excellence”.

The work program will aim to grow existing Centres of Excellence, establish new centers, increase CoE’s value chain, bring the Centres of Excellence into the self-sufficient mode, and encourage private sector companies and collaboration.

As for the “INDO-ISRAEL Villages of Excellence”, this is a new concept aimed at creating a model ecosystem in agriculture across eight states, alongside 13 Centers of Excellence within 75 villages. The program will promote the increase of net income and better the livelihood of the individual farmer, transforming traditional farms into modern-intensive farms based on IIAP standards. Large-scale and complete value chain approach with economic sustainability, embedded with Israeli novel technologies and methodologies will be tailored to local conditions. The IIVOE program will focus on: (1) Modern Agriculture infrastructure, (2) Capacity Building, (3) Market linkage.

The work program signing ceremony was also attended by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Parshottam Rupala and Shri Kailash Choudhary along with Senior officers of Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India.

India needs the following things from Israel in this area:
  1. Evaluate the Kibbutz farming model and assess its applicability as localized farmer-owned food corporations using agricultural and cooperative/public bank financing as seed capital
  2. Direct access of this Kibbutz derived local farmer-corporations to international markets through digital means
  3. Alternative areas of employment and business opportunities for integrators rendered unemployed or out of business due to (1) and (2). Perhaps, allow them to join as financiers of the new model farming corporation.
  4. Complete replacement of subsistence farming with open-air organic farming, aeroponics, and hydroponics, deriving power from renewable sources immediately available at each village level.
  5. Water management technologies from Israel and its mandatory implementation for water-intensive crops in India as a pre-condition to access public-sector banking loans in India.
  6. A joint study of how to restore government ownership of all agrarian land and convert the current individual farmland ownership to long-term freehold leases (79-99 year leases to each farmer).
These are the six things I can think of where India can benefit from Israeli innovation. The biggest and most immediate concern is the intense subsistence farming that is taking a toll of our fertile lands. Also, farming lands need to be immediately restored as sovereign assets. Land should not belong to individual farmers or people; all the land should be explicitly freehold leases for 99 years (or another duration as appropriate), so that the government does not find it impossible to acquire land for infrastructure development such as roads.

#Thread on Israel-Mossad and its role in Sri Lanka. How it played both India and Sri Lanka, and pitted one against each other. How it armed and trained both LTTE & Srilankan Army. Jewish relations with Sri Lanka have a long history that dates all the way back to the biblical 1/n

A very well thought out perspective, devoid of any emotional entanglement and concentrating on national interests. Israel India ties are undoubtedly important with strategic content for both. While nurturing that, each country will look after its national interests. As it should.

I think there is an effort by ISI and CCP and their assets to push India away from the west and Israel in general by using out of context narratives from a different time and place as well as out of context cherrypicked facts, both in India and the west. This is often being done through naive journalists and writers (in both India and the west) who are being played by leftists, CCP, ISI and other parties interested in pushing India away from the west and Israel.
PS, the other effort is to push the RW Indian government out of power and replace them with a leftist puppet government that can be controlled by CCP and western leftist establishment as well as be more accomodating to ISI designs; this is also being done through the use of the media in west and India.
