The HINDUS know Tawsi Melek as Murugan, the legendary son of SHIVA and SHAKTI . Among his numerous alternate titles are Skanda, Sanat Kumara, Karttikeya, and Subramaniya Swami. Like the Yezidis Tawsi Melek, the Hindu Murugan is the king of the universe and moves through his domain as a young boy astride a peacock, or simply as a peacock. Similar to the Peacock Angel, Murugan’s sacred animals include not only the peacock but also the snake and the cock. The snake denotes that the essence of Murugan is pure energy (energy moves as a serpent spiral) and the cock denotes his affiliation as a solar deity. Murugan or Tawsi Melek are names for the cosmic energy that created the universe out of itself, as well as the savior who, like the cock, heralds the end of humanity’s darkness.

Murugan’s identity as one of seven angelic beings is manifest within some Hindu scriptures that refer to him as Sanat Kumara, the leader of the Seven Kumaras. These Kumaras are portrayed as brothers who assisted Sanat Kumara in the creation of the Earth and the enlightenment of humankind. According to the Puranas, the ancient legends of India, the Kumaras were the first to teach humanity the path to enlightenment.

Another heptad association with Murugan is the asterism of the Pleiades. One of Murugan’s names is Karttikeya, which is derived from Krittika, a Sanscrit name for the Pleiades. According to legend, Karttikeya was born through Sophia who manifests as the Seven Sisters (The Gnostics called the Pleiades the Seven Pillars as Sophia). When Karttikeya was first born he possessed seven heads, one for each star of the Pleiades, but he lost one of them and so now he has six, the number of visible stars of the Seven Sisters.

Seven angels here is representatives allegory of seven CHAKRAS as mentioned in DHARMIC Rig Vedic Traditions.

Similarities between Hindus and Yezidis :

1. Yazidi community is a lost rural tribe of primeval Hindus. Customs and traditions followed by them have lot of similarities with customs and traditions followed by Hindus.

2. Lamps in shape of peacock are found in Yazidis’ houses and their temples. Hindus put wicks in the lamps whereas Yazidis kiss these lamps.

3. Shape of Yazidi temple is like that of Hindu temple and there is also sanctum sanctorum in their temple.

4. Peacock is the sign of Yazidis. Peacock is the vehicle (vaahan) of Kartikeya, son of Lord Shiva and it’s a national bird of India. Peacocks are found only in South Asia; but not in Iraq and Syria.

5. Picture of women, attired in sari, is found on the walls of temples of Yazidis. Sari is a common attire of Indian women.

6. Sign of snake is also found on the entrance door of ‘Latish’ temples of Yazidis; such sign is not found in any ancient temples in this region. Snake is worshipped In India, too.

7. Yazidis show 21 rays of the Sun and 21 is an auspicious number for Hindus, e.g. 21 ‘modakas’ offered to Lord Ganesh.

8. Yazidis marry only in their communities like Murid, Sheikh, Peer etc. and not outside their community. Hindus also follow similar custom. There is likelihood of following ‘Gotra’ system even in Yazidis.

9. A plate used for ‘aarti’ is found in houses of Yazidis. Hindus too use such plates for performing ‘aarti’.

10. Yazidis believe in re-birth.

11. Like Hindus, Yazidis do not undergo circumcision. Custom of circumcision is not found in Central – East Asia.

12. Manner of praying amongst Yazidis is similar to what Hindus do i.e. ‘namaskar’. Yazidis pray and do ‘namaskar’ every morning and evening looking at the Sun. Hindus do have a similar custom.

13. Yazidis, while praying in temple, apply ‘bindi/ kumkum’ on forehead which is also done by Hindus since ancient times.

14. Yazidis light lamps on every auspicious occasion.

15. Yazidi male performs ‘puja’ by lighting fire in temple called as ‘Melek Taus’ which is like ‘yadnyas/ sacred fire’ of Hindus.

16. A sign of ‘Trishul/ trident’ is engraved on Yazidis’ utensils; their musical instruments also look like Hindus’ ‘dhol’ and ‘conch’. They perform ‘puja’ of the Sun like Hindus do.

To be continued.

Once most of Asia was follower of Sanatani Dharma. We lost so much to Abrahmic barbarians. Land of India is the only place we have left.

IMO GoI should have saved Yazidis from ISIS. We should have given them asylum.
Sushma Swaraj and VHP Rss groups did help them in funding. The Yazidis are a symbol of human kind’s unprecedented will to persevere in the worst of the situations without resorting to violence. Several Yezidis leaders like Mirza Ismail officially met with Sushma Swaraj and told her to be Yezidis voice in that liberal hippy scam called un.

Yezidi Sanatana Dharma Society was formed, it represents an effort to protect one of the world’s last surviving root cultures . Tapan Ghosh is doing excellent work in it.

While I do not want to comment on whether Yezidi religion is part of Sanatana Dharma but the sad news is that Tapan Ghosh of Hindu Samhati is dead. He died last year due to Covid 19.

On Dev Murugan and Dharmic Sanat Kumara :

Airyna Vaeja was an aryan empire which included present day BHARAT. It also included Turkministan, Uzbekistan, Afganistan and Meda. Meda was part of Iran (a name rooted in the term Aryan) which is in present day Kurdistan. In the Avesta text and Shahnameh text, the legendary King Jamshid of Airyana Vaeja is mentioned.

The name Jamshid is latter version of the name Yima Sira or Yima Khshaeta. Yima means 'the radiant'. In Avesta Jamshid is called Yima, son of Vivanghat.

While in the VEDAS he is called Yama, son of VIVASVANT also known as SURYA or the Sun god.

The Peacock finds a special place in their religion. It is worshiped as Melek Ta'us/Murugan/Skanda/Kārttikeya.

The peacock is not native to Iraq or the Middle East but is indigenous to BHARAT . The serpent is the totem of Melek Ta'us/Murugan in Yezidi. Like the Hindu Indian Murugan the serpent symbolizes the kundalini released. Exactly like the Hindus the Yezidis use tilak and place the mark upon their foreheads.

Another clue in Yezidi to the location of their homeland lies in mythology of their holy land called Perani which is derived from word Pazhani, a temple in Dindigul District of Tamil Nadu.

The deity is MURUGAN or Karttikeya.

DHARMIC Devayasni worship :

Dharma Wins 2.png

The Yazidis call themselves Daseni (Dawasen, pl.) which is the same as Devayasni, which confirms what we know from the Mitanni records about the history of that period. The word Yazidi is cognate with SANSKRIT Yajata(worthy of worship) which in Old Persian (and Kashmiri) is Yazata.

See - B. Acikyildiz, The Yezidis. I.B. Tauris (2010).
See - E.S. Drower, Peacock Angel. London (1941).

According to their folklore, the Great Flood compelled Yezidis to disperse to many countries including BHARAT, and they returned from these adoptive countries around 2000 bce. From archaeological record, the most plausible spread of Devayasna from BHARAT took place about 1900 bce , soon after which VEDIC Gods begin to be mentioned in Mesopotamia and Syria. Zarathushtra came from Bactria near Afghanistan and his new religion split the DEVA-worshiping communities in the west from the ones in BHARAT. The 4,000-year estimate of the Yazidis on when they returned from BHARAT is consistent with this figure.

See - http://www.yeziditruth.org/

After the rise of Zoroastrianism, Devayasna survived for a pretty long time in west of Asia. The evidence of the survival comes from the DEVA- or daiva-inscription of Iranian Emperor Xerxes (ruled 486–465 bc) in which the revolt by the deva worshipers in west of Iran is directly mentioned. Xerxes announces: “And among these countries there was a place where previously daiva [demons] were worshiped. Afterwards, by the grace of Ahuramazda, I destroyed that sanctuary of DAIVA , and I proclaimed: The daiva shall not be worshipped!” This, nearly 2,500 years ago, is an early record of the persecution suffered by the Devayasni, the ancestors of the Yazidis. This accusation of demon or devil worship was repeated later by abrhamic cults which eventually plagiarized a lot of stuff from Yezidis.

See - https://www.livius.org/sources/content/achaemenid-royal-inscriptions/xph/

Another interesting fact about BHARAT of the first millennium bce is the worship of SKANDA or Karttikeya, the son of SHIVA/RUDRA, who is the general to the Devas, and whose mount is the peacock. We see the centrality of SHIVA and Skanda in the representation of their coins of the first-century Kushana kings in the deities Οηϸο (Oesho, Īśa = Śiva) and Σκανδo koμαρo (Skando Komaro, Skanda Kumara). The rule of the Kushanas extended to regions that border on today’s Yazidi lands.

DHARMA WINS 15.png

In the second millennium bce , we have the Mitanni of Syria worshiping VEDIC gods. Even prior to that in the third millennium BCE, the figure of Paśupati (Lord of Animals), an epithet of the Hindu deity RUDRA/SHIVA, is seen in the famous eponymous seal of the SARASVATI-SINDHU Civilization, a memory of which was retained in the BHARTIYA groups who lived across middle east . SHIVA’s son Skanda(also known as MURUGAN or Kārtikeya), the general of the gods, is associated with the peacock, and that is the main symbol of the Yazidis.

The list of the SANSKRIT names used in Syria and elsewhere was published by P. Dumont of the Johns Hopkins University, in the Journal of American Oriental Society in 1947, and one may see a summary of that in the book....chapter on Akhenaten, SURYA, and the RIGVEDA. The names of the main kings are (with the standard Sanskrit form or meaning inside brackets): The first Mitanni king was Sutarna I (good Sun). He was followed by Baratarna I (Paratarṇa, great Sun); Paraśukṣatra (ruler with axe); Saustatar (Saukṣatra, son of Sukṣatra, the good ruler); Paratarṇa II; Artadama (Ṛtadhāman, abiding in cosmic law); Sutarṇa II; Tushratta (Daśaratha or Tveṣaratha, having ten or fast chariots); and finally Matiwazza (Mativāja, whose wealth is thought), during whose lifetime the Mitanni state became a vassal to Assyria.

Across BHARAT, Iran and west of Asia in the ancient world, the worshipers of VEDAS were called Devayājñi (or Devayasni), or DEVA-worshiper, of which the terms Sanātana Dharma or Vedic Dharma are synonyms. The name by which the Zoroastrians call their own religion is Mazdayasna (Sanskrit, MEDHA-Yajña), or the religion of Ahura Mazda (Sanskrit Asura Medhā, Lord of Wisdom). Zarathushtra presented his religion as rival to the religion of the DEVAS (spelt now as daeva in Avestan), that is Devayasna. One can ascertain that before Zarathushtra, the Indo-Iranian speakers in west of Asia were all DEVAYASNI.

The Yazidi religion is a mystical, oral tradition consisting of hymns (qawls), that are sung by qawwāls. Parts of the tradition have now been transcribed as two holy books called the Kitab al-Jilwa (Book of Revelation) and the Mishefa Reş (Black Book).

Given that many Yazidis claim to have originated in BHARAT , the veneration of the peacock is a memory of this origin.

In BHARAT, apart from the peacock as the vehicle of Skanda, it is also associated with SHRI KRISHNA , who wears a peacock feather in his hair or in the crown. Of the seven colors produced from the primal rainbow, Tausi Melek is associated with the color blue, which is also the color of Kṛṣṇa.

Through his manifestation as a snake, Taus Melek is consistent with the perspective of the yogis of BHARAT, for whom the serpent on the tree is a metaphor for the inner serpent (KUNDALINI) that coils around the spine.

Yazidis pray in the direction of the sun, excepting for the noon prayer which is in the direction of Lalish. They acknowledge reincarnation and they take it that the angels (with the exception of Taus Melek) have been incarnated on earth as holy people or saints. Just like the HINDUS , they use the metaphor of a change of garment to describe the process of rebirth.

Their society does not allow conversion. The shaykhs are divided into faqirs, qawwals, and kochaks. The secular leader is a hereditary Mīr or prince, whereas Bābā Shaykh heads the religious hierarchy.

The Yazidi calendar goes back to 4750 bce. It appears that this is connected to BHARTIYA king list that goes back to 6676 bce , which is mentioned by the Greek historian Arrian in his account of Alexander’s campaign.
