How will Turkey afford that? Lira is sinking beneath ocean. Unemployment is high and economic growth is collapsing. Inviting more US sanctions will only doom turkey to fate of their Pakistani birader!.

Frankly, that kind of range is very irrelevant
sound impressive on paper and sensational headline but really doesn't add anything to change the situation.
Radar horizon to target at a height of 12 km is only 480 km. The excess range doesn't mean much.
JSM can already fly 550 km
LRASM can already fly 1000 km
the issue with both fighter and SAM site is at what distance they can find their adversary rather than the maximum kinematic range of their missiles

You are right.
such a range is maybe against a low speed target flying very high (like U2 ?)

technically speaking yes, target at high altitude can be engage from tremendous distance
For example if you use Meteor launched from 50.000 ft, Mach 1.2 to engage Mig-31 flying at 75.000 ft, Mach 2.5
You can launch missiles from 280 nm, missiles will collide with Mig-31 at 160 nm from the launcher at Mach 4.5
Meteor is a very good missile both in range, cruising speed and available G

To launch a Meteor at 280NM against, save the F-22 and perhaps the F-35, no body has a FCR, AESA or otherwise that can provide such a launch solution. Moreso Meteor range is not 280NM, more like 160-200 km.

fired against a A380 or 747, with a RCS of a cruise ship....
Another solution is to use an AWACS track, use the L16 so as the fighter can give mid and end course datas. If the plane-missile link is efficient at such a range.

Moreso Meteor range is not 280NM, more like 160-200 km.
Missile range heavily depends on the altitude and speed at launch. You know you can actually launch AIM-7F from 110 km and AIM-120A from 130 km if you released them at high altitude. Meteor is just extremely good in term of kinematic because it can throttle back. AIM-120 motor can burn for only 7.5 seconds, AIM-54 motors can burn for 27 -30 seconds, whereas Meteor motor can burn for several minutes.
