It's not going to happen. Poland is already lining up. Soon other countries will follow. And Middle Eastern countries are aching to buy F-35, only if they can...

Here's a graph of the F-35A unit cost from LRIP 1 to 10. Note that for LRIP's 1-9 the quoted cost did not include the engine.

LRIP11 F-35A's price came down 5.4% at $89.2M. LM is rargetting $80M for the next batch.

So from the first batch of F-35A was ordered the unit price has already dropped by 60%. That's a lot.

The sustainment cost on the other hand is targetted to be $25,000 by 2025.
Ask the GB how many they will have to pay to upgrade the first planes received. As for now, the F35 is not FOC, so until FOC, all the planes need to be upgrade. And it's not always a software upgrade.

That is old data. You forget that Turkey is being cut out of the supply chain and the programme will be suffering long delays and higher costs as they scramble to replace them.

Because :
S400 purchase.
No real MII as Donald T wants jobs in America, not in India.
US products are not of a free use (ask UAE, Egypt, even PAF if they can use their american fighters as they want).
Tell Boeing Lobby That

India Being using US Products Since decade now Started With C-130 j now Apache's and M777

Trump Is Not powerful than deep state in USA

GOP or DEMs Both wants Deep Strategic relation With India.

India Is Pinnacle To there Strategy for Next World order Against Rising china

Recent Masood Azar ban was Glimpse What USA strategy is

Mark My words Trump or Not US Will Sell India Anything in coming decades It Will be The biggest buyer of USA weapons Out Matching Both Middle East And European Nations

Japan's additional orders alone already offsets any loss of order from Turkey.

Well jobs won't really be affected (they still have orders of over 120 SH block 3 to fulfill), since the line would be an assembly line in India, a lot of key parts would come from the US. Trump isn't stupid to let go of an order of potentially 57 Jets for IN or more if IAF also goes for it. A local assembly line would mean, there would be more orders invariably due to shortages.

I don't see what the hindrance is really for buying American, didn't stop Pukis from firing Aims and using F-16 against us.

Apaches, MH-64s, P-8I are offensive platforms and as far as India is concerned, India is free to use them in defense or Offense. Same way the CBU-105SFW isn't just a nice set of letters, it is meant to be deployed from the Jag to take out scores of tanks or ground targets against whoever threatens the peace.

India has been given equal status as a NATO partner.

Trump is actually quite a pragmatic person (he uses rhetoric to get people to the table and bargains hard but we Indians know a thing or two about bargaining), there will be some give and take. Expect a India-US trade agreement of some sort later this year or next. This would mean more access to US companies in India, lowering of tariffs for a lot of exports from the US and easier access to TOT, local assembly etc, and other goodies for India)

Expect a strong push from Boeing for IAF/IN tenders, I also expect F-35 to be offered as well. MH-64 will win the larger tender of over 100 helos. There will be more orders of Apaches, Chinooks, P-8I, this is a given.

And it's why the fighter deal will not be inked with USA : there are so many other things India can purchase to uncle Donald.
India knows that France is a very reliable partner, so MMRCA2 will be for France.

To be offered don't mean to be chosen.
F35 is far too complicated, not FOC, and a threat to AMCA (as Gripen E is for Tejas).
And once again the turkish example with F35 vs S400 is a pain in the ass.

The Pentagon’s cost assessment office doesn’t believe the F-35 program office can achieve a “stretch goal” of getting the "A" model’s cost per flying hour to $25,000by fiscal 2025, its director said Thursday.

Air Combat Command head Gen. Mike Holmes acknowledged that the price of the F-35 aircraft is falling, but expressed concern that the service would be able to buy and sustain the systems associated with the jet

France is a reliable partner and while I am sure 36 more Rafale will come I don't think it is a given the MRCA-2 will go to Rafale. In India, it is not over till it is really a done deal.

For all we know MRCA-2 could be cancelled for more LCA mk-2.

F-35 isn't a threat to AMCA, AMCA is a twin engine Su-30 MKI, replacement actually. Don't think S-400 is an issue, can be negotiated, Turkey hasn't much to offer to the US.

Size don't matter , if that was so

Why india has trouble managing porkistan for the last 60 years ?

It's sensible to put one's money where one's mouth is.

And even more sensible to not count the chickens before they hatch. 2030 is far away.
