So, with these improvements, Arjun is no longer needed. Arjun with 4 crew has 1 extra crew which drains manpower needlessly and is simply extra bulky wit no benefits to match. Maybe it will fare better in a tank vs tank fight but in realistic scenarios, it is tank vs ATGM, mines, drones etc where T90Mk3 & Arjun fare similarly. So, Arjun likely junked
They ruined Arjun what will you do with a tank with outdated design and a sht power to weight ratio when everyone was moving towards smoothbore we went for rifled cherry on the top it’s fire control system gives issue on high temp.I just hope Zorawar is worth it

arjun isnt junked after the 114 order book completed a mk2 which is under dev with 6-7 tonne lighter weight is to be introduced if not inducted its tech will go the the fmbt and problem with arjun is the engine and all which we cant manufacture so we are screwed if supply is stopped like it is now by mtu .The indigenous engine would go much better in p/wt ratios with 100 extra bhp and torque too but thats also some years away
I think if you exclude FMBT the current Arjun is not fulfilling our requirements and expectations(my opinion btw I can be wrong)

why? if a system is inducted it means it fulfilled all the requirements given by the forces and arjun fared better in tech part over the T-90 in trials too btw requirements is what matter expectations don't if you expect something give it in requirements and don't change requirements 100 times during the prototype building

also the main problem ie the mobility and logistics improved quite a bit already with the 70tonne transporter trailer and 70tonne capable bridges
1715658538213.png

the arjun project was much more promising but in a big way our faults destroyed it the aarv is still isnt ordered the blt is inducted (not sure) the spg based on arjun was killed halfway due to ban on denel

almost all the electricals and optics even the era and composite of arjun was used to upgrade the T-90 which would have taken huge amount of money to send em to russia for upgrades the zorawar project held the timelines like glue cause the big experience that drdo got from the arjun project

the 120mm rifled gun is better than the t90 one we use it fires way better darts and has much more varity of ammo than the t90 also it can fire samho too so atgm is also covered but if you want to trash the rifled gun on being rifled what can i even say

Isn’t mobility one of the most important factors in a MBT?
Also- According to National Interest Article https://nationalinterest.org/blog/reboot/why-indias-arjun-tank-program-failed-miserably-196467
  • Weight
The tank's weight increased from 40 to 62 tons, but the engine power did not increase, resulting in a poor horsepower-to-weight ratio. This weight makes the tank difficult to deploy and use in open desert terrain.
  • Fire control system
The tank's fire control system has issues that prevent it from hitting moving targets and provides poor readings in high temperatures.
  • Design
The Arjun's design dates back to 1974, and it has had a number of design issues.
  • Logistical delays
The Arjun has faced a number of logistical delays
  • https://m.economictimes.com/news/de...vice-not-operational/articleshow/47103764.cms
  • Arjun tank was promising in 1974 when it was originally launched I don’t think there is any counter point to the fact that it was a failure other than That we can use its tech in our upcoming projects

Also just because it is ordered doesn’t mean it was the best if it was we would have been using it as a MBT rather than T90 You are telling me Army liked it that’s why they ordered 124 but the real picture shows different perspective https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...and-futuristic-tanks/articleshow/48355161.cms

arjun was to counter the abrams so making a 40tons tank with 4 crew is already a failure's thinking
here a comparison
1715660961791.png

it would answer all of your questions
lmao the poor p/wt is still greater than that of t90
  • the fire control is already optimised and the issue is gone
  • design issues do you have any specifics or not and dont quote any youtuber's video lmao we had enough of that already
  • articles you have mentioned are old 2018 thats 5-5.5 year old too so we dont know that if the problem still exist
  • its better than any pak mbt already which it would face
Also just because it is ordered doesn’t mean it was the best if it was we would have been using it as a MBT rather than T90 You are telling me Army liked it that’s why they ordered 124 but the real picture shows different perspective https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...and-futuristic-tanks/articleshow/48355161.cms

yeah if army wouldnt have like the arjun why would they be fitting all of arjuns electricals on the t90 bruh and you shared a 2015 article thats 9 year old
plus since we are talking 9 year old things have a look at this

You can bring many such things but reality is all systems have such issues.. T90 has shown alot of issues.. you're just reading some articles and posting it here. The reality is Arjun gun is more accurate than t90. T90 couldn't hit targets whille in motion whereas Arjun could hit it with unparalleled accuracy..
You can search same things regarding t90 u will find similar articles too...

The T-90MS variant has improved electronics and defensive systems compared with the earlier T-90 variants. While retaining the ability to fire missiles like the earlier T-90 versions, the T-90MS features a “new turret weapon station with an upgraded 125mm gun”, according to Rosoboronexport. Another new feature of the T-90MS is a remote-controlled 12.7mm machine gun, which would be useful in urban combat scenarios.

The t90 mk3
And still the same 30 year old sparse ERA layout. Calls it Mk3 but doesn't come with any upgrade in protection, not even APS. Couldn't we do something like the T-90MS.

Or even the Obr.2022 jugaad.
