So even at 70-75kn the afterburner not working. Hence only dry thrust of say 40 to 50kn achieved. Seems the net results are worse than achieved 1960s

It is working alpha already said it was old new and have been cleared already aero India ka wait karlo for more and clear info (only place people can interact with gtre guys and ask questions)

hmm so no progress..? we already knew there were no stability issues in original Engine designed with spec thrust figure 70-75 kn. They had flutter issue when they were trying for 81 kn thrust figures. So basically what they could have done in 2011 will be trying in 2026?
It was able to generate 81kN, but could not sustain it.

Last I heard from someone mutual, it is now giving stable wet thrust of 75kN as opposed to planned 81kN.

They had achieved stable 75Kn thrust long back. Stabilizing 81 Kn and then again extending to 90 KN was the holy grail GTRE had been struggling since more than last decade. Flutter issue was preventing sustained 81kn

They must induct it and fly it anyhow on a Tejas testbed. The Chinks got the engine right but in initial phases they couldn't get the quality control during mass manufacturing. Mass manufacturing such engine with quality is as complex as developing such engine as whole. I hope Indian idea-jeevi babus won't resort to idealistic philosophy of perfect engine-perfect quality in initial phase itself which will jeopardize whole program again. The Chinese held on and on and now they got to present phase.

Would like to differ here. The engine was designed to give an output of 90 kN. It suffered in tests where it has reached to 81kN but could not sustain it.
Then in 2020 it has been downrated to provide 75kN thrust and it has performed satisfactorily it ground tests that has been carried out ever since.

Would love to see when it has been able to provide a sustained thrust of 75kN.

Thrust is not just the factor. There is another major factor which would not allow it to be inducted even with 75kN thrust.

so ADE director is corroborating what GTRE sources states? Where does it state design goal is 90kn as you asserted? Here exADE director is stating 78Kn (not even 80 kn stated on their official site) was design goal...

1200+ kg weight against the planned 1100kg. It means with increased engine weight, gross weight of the implemented platform also increase.
Aren’t there margins built in to address that sort of issue? That seems to be the mistake of Indian planners and designers. They do not allow any margins to be built in to overcome these issues.

IAF(because of increased operational thrust needs of LCA Tejas) desired 80-90 kn which was more than original designed goal of 75/78Kn. So yes IAF as Stakeholder(customer) desired 80-90KN later but that does not mean that original design goal was also same. New Goal of IAF lead to GTRE making efforts in increasing thrust values to 80kn + since more than last decade.

Margins are always there. But when you are talking of maximum weight, you want to keep it lower then your margin.
Moreover this is the first time we are trying to build one and to tell the truth, our metallurgy is improving only now and we need to keep on working on it to come upto the western standard.
