New explosive detection device, developed by DRDO & IISc Bangalore, unveiled in Pune
Posted On: 01 MAR 2020 7:24PM by PIB Delhi

RaIDer-X, a new explosive detection device, was unveiled at the National Workshop on Explosive Detection (NWED-2020) in Pune today. RaIDer-X has the capability to detect explosives from a stand-off distance. The data library can be built in the system to expand its capability to detect a number of explosives in pure form as well as with the contaminants. Bulk explosive in concealed condition can also be detected by the device.RaIDer-X has been co-developed by High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) Puneand Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

The NWED-2020 was inaugurated by Secretary, Department of Defence Research &Developmentand Chairman Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) Dr G Satheesh Reddy. The two-day workshop has been organised by HEMRL Puneon its diamond jubilee celebration. HEMRL Pune is a premier laboratory of DRDO. It provides a platform to scientists, technocrats and users to share knowledge, experience and updated information on the technological advancements made in the recent past. The workshop will help in the further development of explosive detection devices and keep abreast on the recent development and advancements in the field of explosive detection.

In his address, the DRDO Chairman emphasised that detection of explosives is a compelling need of the hour. He said, security agencies are continuously monitoring vulnerable targets with the help of intelligence agencies to thwart the attempts of anti-social elements.Dr Reddy appreciated the joint pursuit of academia and DRDO in developing portable devices, which can now be safely and effectively used by security agencies. He also released a souvenir comprising of abstracts from eminent speakers of DRDO laboratories, IITs, Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials, University of Hyderabad, other universities and delegates.

A total of 250 delegates from different DRDO laboratories, Army, CRPF, CISF, State Police, academic Institutes, industries and other security agencies are attending the workshop.

India beats Russia, Poland to bag $40 million defence deal in Europe

:truestory: BOYS PLAYED WELL!!!

India has bagged a deal worth $40 million to supply 4 indigenous DRDO-developed-BEL-built Swathi weapon locating radars to Armenia by beating Russian and Polish firms.

The radar provide fast, automatic and accurate location of enemy weapons like mortars, shells and rockets within its 50-km range and can simultaneously handle multiple projectiles fired from different weapons at different locations. The Indian Army is also using the same radars at LoC to trace the source of attack by Pakistani positions. The system was given for trial to Army in 2018.

The Defence Ministry is also now looking at other orders from South-East Asia, Latin America and Middle-East countries for boosting defence exports target to ₹35,000crore.
Drones aircraft shall never be available in number nor readily available to every troops in war time unlike artillery.
Understand that these are not exactly "drone" drones, but basically extra long ranged ATGMs with glide wings (with camera in front instead of seeker) guided like flying a kamikaze drone.
Expect a Namica-like launcher system.

That DRDO anti drone system can be used against a high altitude drone or only quadcopters ?

Question, QR sam is for base protection or to protect troops on the move? if on the move then doesn't the time required to fire the sam will increase if it requires a stabilization with hydraulics.

Neutral Temperature Measurement in Aditya-U Tokamak

A high-resolution visible spectroscopic system has been utilized to measure the spatial and temporal profiles of the ion temperature of neutral hydrogen (TH) using Doppler broadened Ha (656.3nm). The system consists of a 1m long spectrometer coupled with a CCD detector. The entrance slit of spectrometer is coupled to a vertical array of nine fiber to get multi –track measurement. This array feed light into the spectrometer transported using another 13 m long fiber connected to lenses collecting light through an in-house developed rectangular viewport from different lines of sight (LoS) passing through the various plasma radial locations.

The spectral width due to the Doppler broadening is directly proportional to neutral or ion temperature enabling the temperature estimation. However, in the presence of the magnetic field, the energy levels of atoms are split into multiple levels due to Zeeman Effect generating many Zeeman split lines, therefore adding to the broadening of the Ha spectral line. Accurate estimation of Doppler broadening for the temperature measurement is needed to be done after incorporating broadening due to the Zeeman Effect as these lines are not distinctly detectable by the spectrometer. A MATLAB code has been developed to estimate the neutral and ion temperatures after incorporating the Zeeman Effect.

For Aditya-U tokamak, the analysis has been carried out for several discharges by fitting the spectral line profile through the simulation of all Zeeman split line when tokamak is operated with 1.2 T of toroidal field and considering the TH has two components, warm and hot.View attachment 43800
Its better if you post the relevant info regrading Indian nuclear facility in the relevant thread. It woud help the thread too.

QRSAM battery will have multiple launch vehicles, all of them need not be moving at the same time.

In a contested space, moving a km for infantry takes a lot of time.

For instantaneous SAM reactions, shoulder fired SAMs are available.
