Bhai, LCA MKII not flying before 2029! Talked to HAL chaps, nothing happening, these are lollipops for public and DefCom:)
LCA MkII FF in 2029, entry into service in 2035!
AMCA FF in 2033, entry into service by 2037-30(MkII excluded)!

This is the timeline AFAWK and chatted with HAL chaps:)
It's not surprising for me at least, because I remember chats of @captscooby81 with one of test pilot that landed LCA Navy on INS Vikramaditya some years ago, that guy had openly replied when asked about it that
- ORCA is a pipe dream
- TEDBF design itself has not been fixed yet (perhaps done so by now but back then it was not)
or some more things;
this all information straight from the horse's mouth back when everyone here was circlejerking over those renders of ORCA, TEDBF etc presented by Kuntal and so

wait i think these are just numbers on paper the photo share is a model with modeled piston (no exhaust or intakes) engines
the model itself is very crudly done just zoom in on the under carriage
View attachment 251305
also service altiude of 9000ft is bad too 3000m it cant even operate at the lower ranges of himalayan
also 200km range means line of sight communications with such oval body the rcs would be measured in multiple metres endurance of 12 hrs to 20hrs seem good enough but again 20okm range is bad for all the branches we already have the archer too we can mass produce them anytime
payload would lie between 150-200kg is also not very good
overall good tech demonstrator but i dont think army would buy any
same same

why do navy doesnt use the rustum 2 since it already has 18hrs of endurance satcon etc it would be perfect for large scale monitering and anyday cheaper than mq9b
while i dont think that the dRiStI-10 have beaten it in terms of endurance relating to alpha defence statements ?
only downside would be not so good sensor suite but it can be improved

The EO can look upto 40km away it is a descent sensor suit.. it might not be as good as drishit-10 (in terms of resolution, quality of image). 40km is alot we can improve it over the years..

Don't take Rustom fanboiz as a line of stone, Hermes-900 is much superior to Tapas! It off course doesn't give the quoted endurance but it is much higher than 18 hrs that of Tapas:D

But indigenous capability is important
If we buy those thus pumping money into our industry will give us much better product in future too
It may come at cost of few capabilities but still indigenous option should upper hand bcoz it's easier to manage spares and maintainability and also contribute further to rnd

tbh if the product is inferior like that giving adani money isnt a bad thing too in a sense it would propel him to make newer things with increased revenue sources cause will we have a private partner with the tapas and they already have achieved a big % of localisation too
while we can focus funds on better platforms like archer ng and indiginous piston engines

Alpha defence reported hermes gave 15:30 hrs endurance and it neither reached desired altitude. Whereas tapas has stayed for in air for 18 hrs and and still Had some fuel left..
At this point we should consult BAE to improve tapas. It has enormous potential.
Even if dhrishit-10 is inducted use all electronics of tapas atleast as many possible. That's where real monies lies..

we had a higher powered engine in development what about it with that the altitude may be increase and the localization too

But why the delay? FF in 2029 means roll out by 2028, HAL cmd has stated early 2027 as the expected rollout year, so where is this extra 1 year delay from?

Nah mate
Adani isn't getting much of money nor tech to independently make a system from it
We all know how our industry behaves when easier option gets available
We have seen this from every sector
Elbit will make many developments with platform and also pitch it through adani which is much simpler than adani building on risk and knowing Israeli lobby will hit him
It's just getting benefitted by Israeli lobby currently
Coming to indigenous content
They are literally 0
It's basically procuring imported parts from 3rd party Indian companies in name of indigenous parts
They have found a good loophole in system

Did they quote who's number are these? Did the IN especially informed them about their own evaluation trials?
The numbers vary from operator to operator and with terrain on top off that! Israeli use the Hermes-900 as both Surveillance and Attack UAS on the same mission! We have procured these for surveillance only, hence the parameters vary.

Too much cost to involve foreign partners to improve Tapas!
its the vice-versa, 60% of Tapas's electronics are Israeli and Israeli ToT, you want to replace Israeli tech with Israeli tech?:D
Even Archer-NG is a Heron MkII all set to be produced in India by HAl with ToT from the OEM!
