Those are just some place holder images. That's a pinaka reloading vehicle and that's a prithvi launcher in middle. Unusual mistake from Drdo side. This redesigned prahar has not been tested yet, how do I know? Simply this thing is to be used more like MLRS with launch angle of 50 to 80 degrees and all of recent prahar missile tests are of vertical launch, that is older ones.
Rest assured this thing will get its own new launch vehicle instead of being adopted to Pinaka, for reference the max length of guided rocket is 5.175m for pinaka and judging from pictures, design of Pinaka launcher needs to be revisited. Why does Pinaka slewing mechanism for pods looks so big and space taking while other MLRS looks almost unnoticeable like chinese SH5, and I don't know what's that huge space taking box spaces behind drivers cabin.
It would be interesting how drdo put this new prahar system on a 6*6. Anyway don't expect more than 6 rockets per vehicle or who knows we in our whole wisdom might just put one new prahar per vehicle, call it a missile system and call it a day.
Here's a pic of SH5 and pinaka, see for yourself
Chad SH5 vs similar class MLRS Pinaka, does better than Pinaka in a 6*6 chasis
Why is this slewing contraption and some boxes behind drivers cabin take so much space?
In a war between China and India, it's the chinese rocket artillery capability which worries me the most.
