No military will use semi-auto sniper rifles. It is only useful in video games. In real world, Snipers operate at over 500 metres. Till about 500 metres, the INSAS are used and hence snipers become redundant. To shoot at that great distance, it is important to avoid unnecessary vibrations and gas leakages from different angles. The semi-auto rifles do exactly that - use some of the leaking gases to cycle the chamber and hence cause small vibration. Even a small deviation of just 0.1 degree angle will make the shot at 500 meteres miss by about 2-3 feet. There is already distractions of wind and gravitational drop. Adding another erratic vibration will be greatly abhorred by marksmen.

Vidhwansak is not always 25kg. It is actually possible to reduce its weight by changing its barrel. Vidhwansak is multibarrel rifle and the highest barrel and caliber configuration is 25kg. Its alternative denel NTW weighs 30kg for the same configuration. Vidhwansak is actually lighter and cheaper. It is not a marksman's rifle but anti-material rifle. It is not to be mistaken with sniper rifles

You have ZERO knowledge of the subject you are talking about.

In the list of new projects sanctioned to DRDO, I saw two crucial projects for which I didn't find much discussion - swift and aesa based sensor suite.

As from it's name swift is a flying test bed so are we getting a mini amca like Japanese plane before the actual amca?

About the sensor suite I am not really sure what is it exactly. If I am guessing right, it's various radars and sensors throughout the body of the plane as we see in all 5th gen planes.

We live market economy so spare me the crony crap

Socialist led to 1992. Downfall

Now about time if you heard the army they are not satisfied with of ofb rifles

And they are asking for further improvement

Now you have given me example of China and Russia both countries autocractic regime

Have ever visited there PSU

And have visited HAL and OFb
Seen there work environments

I based my experience with OFB and there work ethics
Because all your private firms are busy in the so called "JV CULTURE" trying to reap of profit as fast as possible, they don't give $hit to R&D. A government organisation came up with new gun in 6 months, from Oct 2016. The private sector was liberalised for defense manufacturing in 2014, show me anyone with a indigenous rifle, it has been 3 years now?

And Quarterly Audit Them

There Things I Seen In my career In CGDA .Lets Not talk about them in Public

Lets Not talk about work ethics. And Accountability of Our "Sarkari Firms"

Security is Essential area Of Policy of any country. Govt PSU's had there chance in 70 years they Enjoyed Countless resources Without accountability Provided to them by MOD

But they wasted there chance

Now Vision Should be Clear for them Perform or Perish Tax payers Money is Not For charity Message is clear

Indian Gun Laws are just made Lose Few days back

There is still Big reforms needed To involve them in Small arms manufacturing

PSU cannot be perished for sake of national security, It can be free of maggots for sure ..

I would appreciate more logic in the content then rhetoric ..

===========

rhetoric :

(( language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect, but which is often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content. ))

Don't you think it was the previous government that scuttled DRDO research by arm twisting?

Defence is a government sector. It is impossible for anyone to survive - even private industry - if government is hostile. It is not that private industry will sell ATGM to private individuals.

Defense is govt sector

but not arms manufacturing and R&D
Because of the Budget constraints face by Any govt

US for example made there best Research through private and corporate industry

F-22 to Colt M4 all is creation of private contractors

India should have done it in 70s but it was stopped due to Gandhi's congress socialist back log which limited it's policy

Socialism is failed concept it ruined are country after 1992 reforms look at India were it is today in terms of technological growth in any sectors and that is just in 2 decades

Actually, USA defence companies are private but the technology, funding etc are from government. The result is that USA defence sector is extremely corrupt and lax. It is only due to the large money spent by USA and their country's economy itself based on military industrial complex, they are able to still manage it.

But all this has a price - USA is consuming oil at 20 million barrels a day, consuming gas at 35tcf/year, printing notes heavily which is being simply held as ForEx by other countries etc. It is simply the petrodollars and extraordinarily large natural resource base in USA that is keeping it and its defence industry alive.

Capitalism is the worst form of system and not to be emulated. USA is surviving because of huge natural resources and extreme opportunism and short sighted actions. USA is bound to collapse because of this policy and the collapse will not be mild as in USSR but extremely horrific and violent.

The best form is China and Russian. It was not capitalism that improved the country but collapse of USSR and removal of the clutches of USSR. USSR had installed Indira Gandhi by killing Shastri. This influence also kept Indian defence on the leash.

You can look at South Korea, if you think Capitalism is the best. South Korea has no decent defense industrial base at all. Missiles, nukes don't exist

guys what if the recent testfire of nirbhay was not with a turbojet engine as being speculated

it could have been a turbofan engine all along

POEIR JETS had a turbofan engine generating 350kgf thrust under manufacturing ,which they tagged under strategic applications.

http://pixr8.com/poeir-jets-indias-first-ever-jet-engine-developed-by-a-private-firm/

this same company had helped develop the Combustion Chamber in about 3-4 months using Metal Additive Manufacturing for HAL 25KN engine, whereas, traditionally, the development of the part would have taken 18-24 months.

just saying everything is possible , since drdo till date has not confirmed the use of turbojet for nirbhay test and also Indian private companies don't exactly tom tom their involvement with strategic projects.

anyways lets keep our options open, since only a fool will trust Indian presstitudes
