Bored? I got something for you all...

Is this is how India's "Desi Meteor" SFDR BVRAAM is gonna look like ?
SOURCE: IDRW NEWS NETWORK

First basic design images of India’s “Desi Meteor” called SFDR ( Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet Propulsion Technology) Beyond Visual range Air-to-Air Missile has emerged while development of the missile gains speed and might be reaching Ground testing phase soon.
Ground Launchers for SFDR tenders details was first reported by idrw.org nearly two years ago and earlier this year, new tenders were issued for development of Transportable Containers for SFDR.

History

SFDR BVRAAM is Joint development between India and Russia which uses Baseline ASTRA BVRAAM Design with minor modification which is integrated with a booster-ram jet sustained propulsion system to provide a multi-shot capability against maneuvering targets with a range in excess of 100 kilometers.

Technology Behind SFDR
Conventional Rocket Motor based BVRAAMs have higher burning out rate since it works in the same amount of thrust levels from the moment it is fired, which means it can run out of fuel when it reaches its target in longer range and highly maneuverable targets can outrun the missile in the last phase if missile is fired from a long range.
SFDR will have faster acceleration last phase due to Ducted Ramjet Propulsion Technology and unlike rocket motor, Ducted Ramjet Propulsioncan can throttle its engine during different phases of flight thus saving fuel for final approaches towards its target.
SFDR Propulsion can build up speed in its final attack run and also have fuel to manoeuvre during the endgame of the engagement. which then can enforce “no escape zone” effectively over enemy aircraft over long ranges.

I know it's IDRW.org so asking about truthfulness of highlighted section is it joint project with Russia.?????

Closely inspect both the images. The SFDR and VFDR are the same thing. Both the images have dual X-angled air ducts

Thing is SFDR seems to be dual purpose. One designated to be Astra Mk. II BVRAAM weighing approx 250kgs and other possibly designated to be XR-SAM with a heavy 450kgs booster 1st stage, with total net weight of 700kgs (SFDR+Booster)

Here's the details of 450kg SFDR ground booster (not the SFDR itself).
Will push it to Mach 3 to activate ramjet and will have freely rotating tailfins.
The booster (if I am right), other than the job of pushing SFDR to Mach 3, will also carry SFDR for considerable amount of range before releasing the SFDR.

P.S - I believe that this ground-based SFDR project could be XR-SAM itself (Take this claim with a grain of salt for now)

Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet and Variable Flow Ducted Ramjet. Basically a active radar guided missile which uses solid fueled throttleable ducted Ramjet engine instead of traditional uncontrollable combustion solid fueled rocket motor, which enables better performance. The missile will have 2 versions, one for launching from combat aircraft, another with a booster section attached which will be used as ground launched SAM.

The only other type of this missile in the world is MBDA Meteor, which MBDA claims has 6 times the kinematic performance of other BVRAAMs.

Why am I getting a feeling that this Ra'nd 2 ALCM will be tested only after India tests Brahmos ALCM? As a 'respond' to Indian Missile Test? Anybody with mutual feeling?

It'd be surprising if they didn't. You are talking about a great nation which tested 60km ranged Nasr against the launch of Mars mission and jubilantly claimed "Hum bhi Bharat se kisi mamle main peeche nahin hain".
