DAC approval as in feb 2021, along with NAG.

“Three AoNs for an overall cost of ₹13,700 crore were accorded. All these AoNs are in the highest priority category of defence acquisition…These (systems) will be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured,” the ministry said in a statement, without naming the proposals approved.

The proposals cleared by the DAC include 293 Nag anti-tank missiles developed by DRDO, 13 modified ICVs (called the Nag missile carrier or Namica), eight medium power radars called Arudra and practice ammunition for T-90 and T-72 tanks, officials said.

The T90 order was ~21000 Cr. for 464 at 45 Cr. a piece while the Arjun deal is for ~7500 Cr for 118 at 63 crore a piece, can someone explain the reason for this premium despite the Indian make?

Is there a conclusive unbiased comparison of the Arjun and the T90, iv heard vastly differing opinions on which is a better platform

Unpopular opinion, but I have an inherent dislike for the Armored Corps, they live in this delusion of the old times where Cavalry ruled the battlefield on horses and were usually comprised of sons of earls and nobility...the modern reality of the battlefield is very different and drones, shoulder fired ATGMS are challenging the very utility of tanks today, and yet here we have them ordering imported tanks by the hundreds and throwing token orders at HVF

those 464 are also assembled in hvf avadi with the bhishma being indigenized to higher extent,drones & atgm are a threat to tanks ,but so are fighter aircraft remember iraq death road did it meant amrika doesn't have tanks, modern aps negate threat of atgm so does your own airforce of drones, tanks in rajasthan sector are main fighting unit and IBG coming take care of war being fought both on land & air simultaneously

WTF?? :rage::rage:

then why mrsam,qrsam,vlsram are being made???

Looks like India has a lot of appetite for Air Defence systems. It was reported the last year too-

The Defence Security Cooperation Agency of the US government said that the proposed sale to India included 5 AN/MPQ-64Fl Sentinel radar systems, 118 AMRAAM AIM-120C-7/C-8 missiles (the surface to air version of the medium range air to air missile used by Pakistan against India post Balakot strike), 3 AMRAAM Guidance Sections, 134 Stinger FIM-92L missiles.
