Countering the Chinese dominance
1 Jun 2011, 0916 hrs IST, AGENCIESWith China continuing it's forays into Indian waters, TIMES NOW has accessed the Task Force Action plan to cover Andaman and Nicobar tri-services command into a major amphibious warfare hub.
Despite the handshakes and the pleasantries, China's bolerstering it's defences in India's backyard. A Chinese survellience post was established, just 40 kilometres away from the northern most tip of the Andaman Islands. The office of the Chinese Navy located in the Coco Islands of Mynmar is intended to keep a strategic eye on India's military a post too close for India's comfort.
It's not just the port at Myanmar. A port in Sri Lanka that China claims is a commercial venture is also cause for concern.
New Delhi may not openly acknolwledge the threat but the armed forces have relaised that it's the Andaman Islands that holds the key to counter the chinese dragon. The relationship between India and China is one that raises many questions. Economically speaking thwey are both partners and competitors, militaryrily speaking though, it's less clear.
It seems India is not taking any chances, sending out a clear message to China by enhancing maritime survelliance, developing additional air fileds and developing the area to make it capable of operatnig long range maritime aircrafts.
In fact top defence sources have told TIMES NOW that it's China's focus on doninating world energy that has India gearing up to counter Chinese aggression.
The Army plans to sent additional brigades to Andamans. The Navy plans to hike up the number of warships and construct more aiports. The Airforce & the DRDO are planning for more UAV presence and enhance underwater survelliance. India's special task force had begun strategising and plans to fortify the Andaman Islands to counter Chinese aggression.
