narrative at COP26, attempts being made to blame India.
china cleverly avoided proposing this amendment, hence not getting the blame for now, these initial hours.
=========
India proposes and adopts “….accelerating efforts towards the ‘phase-down’ of unabated coal power” instead of a ‘phase-out’.

China, in the middle term, would lobby even some sort of carbon tax on the power sourced from conventional fuel. They know that they have more capital to invest in renewables than the other Asian manufacturers. Expect this in the next 3-5 years. This climate change war will definitely have a big element of economic infighting among nations.

Paris deal in 2015 was considered the turning point in agreements on climate change mitigation, where activists and governments came to same page. There too stage was set to blame everything on India, and they blamed India quite a bit. Modi govt was just elected, and didn't have time to understand the nuances.

Even though India was blamed, India is only country that worked on paris climate agreement and aced it with real action on the ground. No other major country did. because of this whenever activists tried to blame India, they started to look stupid since India have metrics to prove that the country has done quite a bit.

At the beginning of this Glasglow meet, India has clearly stated that we will target Net-Zero by 2070. which means India has already declared that we are not abandoning coal in medium term. In return India asked for access to nuclear tech and at least 100 billion $ annual financial commitment to poor countries from rich countries. activist knew about this too.

China has funded an grouping of it's own called G77 + 1(china), these are mostly poor countries which need chinese loans. these 77 countries will vote the way china wants them to vote.

all this was known to everybody interested in this conference for two weeks.

Now here's where hypocrisy comes in, was watching the live proceedings and SM narratives side by side. narrative against India and china started emerging on SM in the final 3 hours, even before alok sharma (brit guy, president of COP26) and John Kerry even met with Indian delegation and chinese delegation on the floor. on the floor this alok sharma was talking normally with Indian delegation minutes before, but when he came on stage he acted (for cameras) as if it was a last minute change. Theatrics. It was all drama, to appease their own local constituencies.

As mentioned in earlier post, India forwarded the amendment to change the language to "Phase down" and not "Phase out" coal.

Fact is Gora instinct to view india as an easy target has not gone away. surprising bit is the same activist crowd which blames india hardly utter anything on China.

As expected Activists are hung up on 1.5 deg. C. they don't have a clue how real world works. True to their origins since they operate on binary logic, this is the message they are focussing on :

Which part do you think seems unattainable? Renewable contribution proportion or carbon sequestration targets(due to absence of any reliable technology in this date), we mostly rely on intervention thru nature like afforestation, mangroves plantation, etc)?
I'm saying that volumetric targets won't a challenge but %age contribution of renewables in total national consumption will not reach as high as expected.

Energy consumption in a society, especially Asia-Pacific countries is not predictable. Within a decade, economic progress in Asian states will come packed with different degrees of industrialisation. They won't just grow and change as predicted. Over it, economic future isn't certain either. So, things won't work out theoretically.

Over it, I have a feeling that by the end of decade when India is about to enter middle income group and percentage of literate population reaches 85-90%, a sudden temporary wave of industrialisation will actually make the overall increased output of Indian power grid even more acute.
We also don't know what new sectors might be discovered in meantime.

The phrase "Phase down" coal first appears from a US-China agreement three days before the final day in Glasglow. i wonder what did we get in return for being the fall guy at Glasgow.

=======================
China agreed to “phase down” coal, the dirtiest fossil fuel, starting in 2026, but did not specify by how much or over what period of time.
China and the United States Join in Seeking Emissions Cuts

US Government Statement.

China will phase down coal consumption during the 15th Five Year Plan and make best efforts to accelerate this work.

So, as per that Alok guy - India & China "need to explain" not the worst offenders of the last 100 years.

And, look at the pic from BBC

"Explanation" has to be given by both China & India - but look at the random BBC pic - An Indian standing in flood water. Are there no floods in China?

Meanwhile uppity privileged white Scandinavian fuel guzzlers:-

Local MSM though -

But what really happened:-

COP26: India calls out inequity, wrongly portrayed as obstructionist
India said in negotiations that all fossil fuels must be phased down, in an equitable manner.

India criticises fossil fuel language in COP26 draft deal

GLASGOW, Nov 13 (Reuters) - India's environment and climate minister, Bhupender Yadav, took aim at a draft deal at the United Nations climate summit on Saturday, saying he disagreed with the language on fossil fuel subsidies and that the draft lacked balance.

In one of the strongest criticisms of the COP26 draft deal, Yadav said developing nations had the right to use the remainder of the so-called global "carbon budget", or the amount of carbon dioxide the world can release before warming crosses the 1.5 degree Celsius threshold.

"Mr President thank you for your efforts to build consensus," he told Britain's COP26 president, Alok Sharma, at a so-called stocktaking plenary. "I am afraid, however, the consensus remained elusive.

"In such a situation, how can anyone expect that developing countries can make promises about phasing out coal and fossil fuel subsidies when developing counties have still to deal with their development agendas and poverty eradication?"

The issue of subsidies for oil, gas and coal has become a major sticking point at the summit, where negotiators have already missed a Friday deadline to strike an agreement aimed at keeping alive a goal to limit global warming to 1.5C.

Earlier, a new draft of the agreement negotiated over the past two weeks called upon countries to accelerate "efforts towards the phase-out of unabated coal power and inefficient fossil fuel subsidies".

On Friday, two sources close to the negotiations said China and Saudi Arabia were among a group of countries seeking to prevent the deal in Scotland from including language that opposes fossil fuel subsidies. read more
Yadav also criticised what he described as "lack of balance" in the agreement, an argument developing countries have made before when pushing for more money to better adapt their countries to deal with the effects of climate change.

Targeted campaign against India. I have already seen this spread in reddit, Twitter, YouTube etc etc. And in everywhere, it's made out India is responsible for everything while there is no mention of China anywhere. India needs to go on the offensive regarding this.

noise is mostly coming from Europeans, not Americans( for now ).

Most phattu of the lot turned out to be Brits as usual, retarded colonial compulsiveness when it comes to India.
