One less lift and one less catapult. But that could mean more room in the hangar without the lift and catapult mechanisms in the way. Operational doctrines are probably a quite bit different.003 has slightly larger surface area than a Ford class carrier.

Rumors of some in Dalian. In fact, many Chinese suspect that Type 004 (or the first one) will be built in Dalian not Shanghai-Jiangnan. and Step 2 has begun as well. this would be a CATOBAR Carrier / conventional power / steam Catapult / 68000-8000 tons displacement(normal and full)...and it is constructed in East China, and another one might be constructed in Dalian Shipyard where the two STOBAR carrier were constructed. this is Type 002... If there is no accident, around in 2023, it would be ready for commission. the construction period should be around 6-7 years...
Propulsion system will be installed this month according to unconfirmed sources.
