the blog has an update today... 13km.
------------

and the earlier exhibition of last year?(some typo ... lol)

What typo are you talking about ?

Second picture has no info on range

And 1st picture says greater than 13 km lock on range and that does not mean lock on range is limited to 13 km . Unless you are trying to be too smart like a porky . Trying too hard to earn your 2 cents ?

Same seeker will be the basis to different variants configured to different operational parameters , depending on SWaP constraints of the missiles in question.

One question to all of you guys. People were telling that once the Akash's range will increase with seeker as it can fly in a different trajectory. Any news on that?

Whatever I can get from reports, Akash 1s has radar seeker and a range of 30km. Akash NG is in R&D and is expected to have a range of 40km. The seeker allows missile to dive behind mountains as it tracks a maneuvering target. The current version of Akash is not suitable for mountainous areas.

There's no official word on the increased range. But it was always known that the range of Akash-Mk1 was limited by the tracking range of Rajendra radar; further it was known that Akash-Mk1 had full propulsion for all of 25 kms.

With the seeker onboard, Akash-1S is no longer 'tethered' to Rajendra radar (in the homing stage). Also, the range of SAMs normally (unlike that of Akash-Mk1) take the 'coasting' of the missile (after all of the propellant has burnt out) into consideration. As such, it would be very reasonable to assume that Akash-1S will have atleast an additional effective range of 5kms compared to Akash-Mk1!

35km

Actual benefit is enemy will have to deal with different types of guidance and hence onboard counter measures will be overwhelmed to a certain extent. A Akash launcher with both CLOS and RF seeker based missiles will have its own advantage.

1.CLOS (command line of sight guidance) , advantage very difficult to jam , disadvantage limited by radar LOS
2. RF seeker advantage independent target lock and engagement , disadvantage prone to jamming.

If both types are fired within optimal operating parameters then it will ensure higher kill probability due to redundant target acquisition and locking capabilities.

There was a DRDO paper on it , I can't exactly recall but it seemed the paper discussed combining CLOS and seeker both. If that's the case then it's even better.

Akash NG trials this year

BEL Chairman M V Gowtama confirmed that the first trials of the upgraded version of surface-to-air missile (SAM) Akash NG (new generation) will be held this year.

“Akash SAM is the best in the business and it has performed so well during all the recent exercises. The Akash NG will be ready for trials this year,” Gowtama said.

Akash NG is likely to have a range around 50 km, while its predecessors can hit targets up to 25 km. DRDO had tested-fired Akash-1S, a new variant of the missile recently, with a desi seeker onboard

This is the same '7 regiments' order that's been in news for several years.....deal still needs inking (even after several approvals/clearances by MoD over several years)
