guys please understand we dont want others to tell us what are our national interest is. If you go with US they are do all what is necessary to make us dependent on them. Today we have independent foreign policy. Tommorow we done be any different from what Pakistan is today. No such things from EF or France.
In short that is called lack of self confidence.

Its sad that we fear, we will have to listen to all what US says if we buy jets from them.

India is not Pakistan and we will never be in that position.

We play by our rules , just the fear of these sort needs to be sorted.

yeah that is why complete TOT and US domestic laws prohibit selling weapons in case of war, no such things from France.

BTW if you are so concern about stopping of spears then only answer is make it here.
There are offset rules and it clearly says ToT and no bindings. Any deal would be signed on basis of that.

Hence its irrelevant.

spark has a point saya but on the other hand we need to see where our intrest is as of now we need uncle sam and the "others" to counter china
so if you see our wepones purchasing graph we are buying a mixed bunch but we have to buy certain stuff from Uncle cause the bear has not been good in after sales service but as of now i think that the rafle has more points in its kitty.

as the IAF has operated the M2K it will be more easy to operate the rafale.

Exactly my thoughts..

We should cancel C-130's, C-17s , GE engine's, javelin missiles, poseidon p8i, USS trenton aka jalaswa, Thales-Raytheon Systems AN/TPQ-37 (V) 3 Firefinder artillery radar, UH-3H Sea King helicopters etc etc immediately as its against national interests.

Also cancel Apache in heli competitions and GE engines in aircraft carriers.

What if France refused to supply or Russia refused to supply.

If it hasnt happened before doesnt mean it couldnt in future.

There is no guarantee. We never bought and have spares issue with US yet, but has plenty with our present suppliers.

The sanctions we talk on is during nuke tests. That was more of a compulsion as they were acting as world police, now things have changed and India is not that India that used to be.

Do you think Japan is a fool buying stuff from a nation that once even nuked them?
Japan's security had to be guaranteed by the american's under the 1945 armistice agreement under which the japs adopted a pacifist constitution, the Americans needed to protect japan to ensure that it did not fall under soviet influence(the Korean peninsula was already getting restive). Since the MIC of japan had already been devastated by allied bombing the Americans first took on the mantle of defending the japanese home islands themselves and later on passed it onto the JSDF , japan was forced to buy american weapons as they were for a long time forbidden to produce or buy any wepaon system that had not been approved for use by them by the pentagon.

Old traditions and influences have shaped Japanese polity in such a way that they now continue to buy american systems.Japan is now the american bulwark against the Chinese rise, why do you think the hyuga and other flattops have come in now?

well one thing i want to say to everyone that india did the right thing by eliminating F16 & F18 from MMRCA as we shouldnt take any strategic platforms from US even if they r ready to give complete ToT for it .as we all know how unreliable suppliers they r from TEJAS experience .So but it is better to buy force multipliers & conventional weapons from them ,nothing harm in it as some are really cutting edge in the world .

but the yanks are world leader in some cutting edge weapons technology ,yes they r unreliable suppliers but why only US ,but buying weapons from any country is delusional & is not in national interest instead india should promote indigenious development .The best example is ARJUN tank which was criticed earlier as outdated ,but it really outgunned the much superior touted T 90 tank in war exercises .so we should promote indigenization of our weapon industry that is in the interest of INDIA

If they are unreliable, then who is reliable. 2 days back there was news of F-18 deliveries completed to aussies before scheduled time and on a lesser amount from the contract.

Also all rejoiced when transport aircrafts were delivered.

No what i'm saying is that they buy primarily american stuff because they are client states , we're not and there is no reason we should act like one if we can get better bang for our buck!

We have the option of buying anything on its merit or rejecting it .
