In Syria, a tank is seen, a participant of the Parade on Red Square

. No one is surprised by the photos of the T-90A tank of the Syrian army. There are hundreds of them on the web, no less than video materials. However, it was this image that attracted the attention of military experts.

No, not because this tank, allegedly, only recently arrived in Syria. The fact is that before us is a fighting car and at the same time a participant in solemn events on Red Square.

This is evidenced by a special sensor installed on the dynamic protection unit (according to the famous tank historian Alexei Khlopotov, this is a passive microwave transponder for automatic identification of objects). On ordinary T-90A, such a device was not mounted.

Earlier, such "ceremonial" "nineties" in Syria were not noticed.

Despite the fact that the terrorist group banned in Russia has suffered a crushing defeat, it is too early to relax. The enemy can present very dangerous surprises. Worthy answer to them just help tanks from Nizhny Tagil.

Vietnam launched a large-scale modernization program for T-54/55 tanks

photo: 1) Vietnamese modernized tank T-54M3 (left), 2) T-54M3 tank

Vietnam has launched a large-scale modernization program for T-54/55 tanks (there are more than 1200 of them), Soha.vn informs . Noting that despite the recent order in Russia 64 new T-90S / SK, upgraded T-54/55 in the short term will form the basis of the armored fleet of the country. The upgrade option under the designation T-54M3 was developed quite a long time ago. The project was carried out jointly with Israel, which supplied the 105 mm M-68 gun to replace the 100 mm D-10T2S gun, meteorological sensors, a modern telescopic sight with an IR channel, additional composite and dynamic reservation packages.

However, later, due to the high cost of the project, the tank gun M-68 had to be abandoned, nevertheless, tanks were equipped with an additional fence minimizing the cumulative effect, and the electronic components of the tank were protected by special modules.

In July 2017, an article was published in the online newspaper People Online, which reported on a number of projects for the modernization of military vehicles in service with the Armed Forces of Vietnam. Among them, the P-18 radar, the BM-21 Grad missile system and the T-54B tank were mentioned.

it is the other way around, no Indian round can penetrate more than 500mm at 2000 meters front on. The story has been discussed to death on this forum. The type-2m can penetrate at 600+mm armor front on.

But the above poster you posted says APFSAD II M has 220mm penetration at 2000m.

Gosh, no, it says that the shell can penetrate around 220mm RHA armor when fired from 66 degree angle, which means that it will penetrate 600mm or above when fired at 0 degree, or front on.

1) Indian made SABOTS (120 mm ,for Arjun) can defeat 650 mm RHAe at 2000 mtrs for 0° strike...(600 mm posdibly officially said ,old days)
125 mm is capable to do in same condition 550 mm RHAe but max official info says 500 mm.
2) For Pakistan once I heard 670 mm max value
3) Latest news said, new 120 mm rounds can defeat 250 mm over 500 mm RHAe at 2000 mtrs...couldn't understand meaning
4) For, Type 99 ,China officially said 700 mm RHAe at 2000 mtrs, but unofficial source says 825 mm!

The bm-42 clone can best achieve 460mm armor penetration. The israeli one was discontinued as IMI, the company that manufactured it got banned.

Rest is just your fantasy parade, not reality. if it is, show the evidence.

If you are insisting that my point of Pakistani ammo achieved 670 mm max that may be a fantasy , then it's good for us.

But rest aren't. Many countries make better Mango clones than original Mango rounds. Poland itself has 610 with new penetrators and 500 with old one. While Bulgarian achieves 640 mm with different kinetic penetrators. Ukraine too makes better performing clone of Mango rounds.Romanian one 560 mm RHAe .Israel copied them.So saying Mango rounds clone achieve only 460 mm RHAe is not justified.

And Indian ammo was based on Israeli one not Russian ammo . And modified. So in case of 125 mm Indian achievement is 500-550 mm depending upon Rusdian based development or Israeli based. While for 120 mm, value started from 300 mm RHAe for old days to now the level I mentioned.

And Chinese value one you will get in this thread some pages back.

South Korea’s K2 tank to run on German transmission
By: Jeff Jeong

SEOUL — South Korea’s K2 main battle tank is to be equipped with a German transmission system, a part of the tank’s powerpack that includes a locally-developed engine.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced Feb. 7 that its top decision-making body, presided over by Defense Minister Song Young-moo, made a decision to adopt the German RENK transmission system for the production of a second batch of 106 K2 tanks.

The second-batch production was originally started in 2014 but has been postponed due to repeated failures in evaluating reliability of the local transmission system built by S&T Dynamics.

“The field deployment of K2 tanks has long been delayed due to defects in the domestically-built transmission system,” the arms agency said in a press release. “We’ve made a conclusion that the second batch of K2s will be equipped with a powerpack consisting of a local engine plus a foreign transmission.”

Hanwha Defense Systems, formerly known as Doosan DST, is in charge of development of a 1,500hp engine for the K2 Black Panther, co-developed by the state-funded Agency for Defense Development and Hyundai-Rotem.

The second-batch of K2s is scheduled to be deployed with the Army units between 2019 and 2020, according to the DAPA.

The first batch of 100 K2s was equipped with the German MTU 883 diesel engine and RENK transmission system. In December 2014, Hyundai Rotem signed an $820 million contract to supply the additional K2 MBTs to the Army. But the plan hit a snag as S&T Dynamics’ automatic transmission failed in the durability tests six times.

Under the defense production standards, a tank transmission system is required to run without defects for 320 hours.

“Unfortunately S&T’s transmission system failed to prove its reliability and durability under the rules,” a Hyundai Rotem official said, requesting to remain anonymous. “With the hybrid powerpack of South Korea engine and German transmission, the stalled production of K2s is to resume to replace the Army’s aging inventories of US-made M47 Patton tanks and older versions of the K1 MBT, which have been in service since the 1980s.”

He added an additional contract for the production of the third batch of about 110 K2s is to follow in the coming years.

The Black Panther features advanced weapons systems. It is armed with a 120mm/L55 smoothbore gun indigenously developed by Hyundai Wia. It is also equipped with a state-of the-art fire-control system capable of acquiring and tracking specific targets up to a range of 9.8 km using a thermographic camera.

The tank can travel at speeds of up to 70 km/h on road surfaces and maintain speeds of up to 52 km/h in off-road conditions. It can also climb 60-degree slopes and vertical obstacles 1.8 meters in height.

In 2008, Hyndai Rotem signed a $540 million contract with Turkey’s Otokar for technological transfer and design assistance of the K2. The technology was incorporated to Turkey’s main battle tank, dubbed Altay

Find me one Indian round that achieves 600mm and is in service, there is none. The bm42 clone made by OFB barely reaches 460mm at zero degrees.

The latest Arjun also does at 500mm, that to with no pics of stats and just word of mouth.
