Old news ! LSP 2 is now regularly flying with Uttam and it will take a lot of time for full evaluation .

What is the update on AESA radar?

The AESA radar is integrated with the Light Combat Aircraft. The test and evaluation are going on at the moment. We are confident that AESA radar would be fully proven by the next year and would be ready for induction on Tejas Mk 1A.

Update from indranil brf...



1. Uttam has been flying on LSP 2 for a while. Up till now the performance has been found to be good. Netra was great during Balakot.
2. Mk1 heading for final set of tests to finalize flight computer/auto pilot.
3. Mk1A is still on paper. HAL has been asked for justification of costs. First prototype will most likely be a modified LSP.
4. NLCA headed for first trap on SBTF.
5. First prototype of Mk2 to be likely by 2022/23

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd will deliver 16 Tejas Mk-1 variant with FOC configuration by the end of this year. IAF is already operating 16+ Tejas Mk-1. IAF is already ordered 40 Tejas Mk-1 & 83 Tejas mk-1A will be ordered by year end luckily. New Tejas mk-1A will be equipped with AESA radar, Self Protection Jammers, long range BVRAAM & other varieties of weapons.

Range will never be released in public domain. Astra range was once said to be beyond 110km by a senior most defence member but was abrupted then and there by other person not to relase confidential info in public. Check some RSTV debate regarding it.

As far as Tejas 45SQ to have Derby- thats was very well laid out by govt PIB. Not sure why people quote unknown BRF dudes and take their word as sacrosant.

Based on the successful integration and demonstration, Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness (RCMA), a unit of DRDO has cleared the series production aircraft of Squadron 45, to be equipped with Derby operational capability. LCATejas has successfully completed a series of captive flight trials to clear Derby for the full operational capability in the entire FOC envelope. In the past, Tejas has qualified for the armaments and missile release related trials.

According to DRDO chief Tejas mk1A will come with Uttam AESA radar so we can hope that it will be able to integrate meteors in it.

The indigenous products must be inducted in services as soon as they are ready.The perfection and improvisation should be added later on as add-on.
