what are the possible armaments of multi roe helicopter and what will be the possible range with out refuelling and ceiling range it could attain?
This will mainly be for troop transportation so no armaments probably will not be there unless in case of armed version. Range may be in the range of 700 to 800 KM. Ceiling may be in the range of 4500 to 5500 m. These are my guesses.

Is there any indigenous engine being envisaged or any JV?
Domestic engines will take time, we have to put in more resources, top brains and top prority. Also industrial spying needs to be done.

Can the Shakti engine powering the ALH's be upgraded for the required thrust?

Why would HAL (or for that matter Safran) redesign the current engine? Safran already has a higher powered engine, if HAL has a fetish for Safran engines only!
HAL will pick the engine based on who the JV partner is; in all likelihood, the JV partner would already have an IMRH design ready replete with the engine..

IMRH is backed by Navy and Army Claims HAL

After coming under fire for initiating Upgraded Combat Hawk Project without backing from Indian Air force, which firmly rejected BAE-HAL proposal to buy the Advance version of Trainer jet. HAL has confirmed that it will be displaying a full-scale mockup of Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) at Aero India 2017. HAL also confirmed that IMRH both Indian Army and Indian Navy have shown interest in the big-lift next-generation chopper and both have agreed to be on board the project and IMRH is not an in-house HAL project . HAL also said that IMRH is currently is at its initial stage, and we have taken it up ourselves. The army and the navy have shown interest in choppers of this type and we hope our helicopter will meet their expectations,” a senior HAL official said. idrw.org in the previous report (AeroIndia 2017: HAL to Showcase mockup of new Medium Class Helicopter)had highlighted some of the features of IMRH. Interestingly Indian Air force who is the largest fleet operator of Mi-8 and the Mi-17 Medium class helicopter which HAL hopes IMRH will replace is clearly sitting on the fence and might join in, only when Project achieves some crucial milestone feels Defence Analyst Ranesh Rajan. Well Mi 17 V5 can carry 4T of payload or 5T of underslung. If they really wants to replace Mi 17/Mi 8 with IMRH then they need to put this Turbomeca Makila 2Aa1 or 2B with 2200 hp to 2400 HP class.

Exactly. If 5.5 ton class dhruv require an engine of some 1300 HP engine, double weight carrying requires almost double power.

I think we must move to double system of Russian style to increase lifting capability of our choppers.

Indigenous product..engine might be french or russian.
Can't the kaveri type engine be used for IMRH or other choppers with modifications?

Safran has already begun to complete the kaveri engine and India will receive TOT for the same under the Rafale deal. Safran is charging 1 billion for the project. There is likely an agreement that India will order further Rafales in return for the engine technology. Kaveri will be delivered by 2018 so that Rafale can get additional orders before election (can't take risk with Congress).

I am wondering why not use the same technology to make helicopter engines (dry run), probably twin engines. After all the technology is very similar and even much less complicated than jet engine
