DRDO need to come up with 300mm calibre rocket to replace smerch with 100km+ range at minimum ---- link with UAV ,planes or other designators --- highly sophisticated rocket artillery rounds could be devastating for not just static target but also armoured convoys on move .
Russians showed it in Ukraine when they destroyed whole mechanised brigade using just rocket artillery.

US GMLRS cep is 10 meters... So, if cep of guided pinaka has been improved from 60 meters to less than 50 meters...some more effort can bring down cep to 10 meters

Even this is not bad if all rockets being produced are guided.

Pinaka Missile System developed by Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) was again successfully tested today off the Odisha coast. The extended range version of the missile can hit targets at 90 kms.

Let us look at the numbers. Initially it was planned to procure 22 regiments of Pinaka as per the Arty Profile 2027. However, after some “thinking and operational reassessment” beyond logic, the number of Pinaka Regiments were reduced by 12. We have correspondingly increased the number of 155 mm gun (max range 40 km) regiments by 12! These will come at the tail of all other orders after 15-20 years. It is flummoxing that; we have decreased our requirement of a fully indigenous and devastating rocket system with 70 km range from 22 to 10. So much for “Make in India”. This inverted planning is happening in an era where the international trend is to go in for long range precision fires. Just imagine deployment of another 12 regiments of Pinaka with its plethora of warheads on the LAC and the deterrence effect it will have on our adversarie

One possible solution is representation of arty in decision making process.
but where did the numbers come from? the reduction from 22 to 12.

Correct. M777 is sold by BAE, same Company which killed our Marut programme to push Jaguars.

Due to M777 push, all indigenous 155mm Howitzer programmes & Pinaka are suffering due to lack of orders.

In fact in mountains M777 is unsustainable and better combination is
    105mm + Guided Pinaka

My question remains the same, what is the source of this info that pinaka systems have been cut from 22 to 12?
