HAL readies Tejas SP-10 for first flight

Good news guys.....after a long time

HAL has a second Tejas line too running at its Aircraft Divisio,n which is working on SP-11, Sp-13 and SP-15.

As reported by Onmanorama earlier, the LCA Division has already loaded the parts of SP-21 on to the assembly facility.
Actually it's not good news, if you take the whole report into context.

HAL wants to start FOC production, but can't unless IAF gives the final go ahead.
=> IAF can't give it, until ADA has not achieved the FOC and the issues wrt the trainers will be settled.
=> Now HAL is asking IAF for another compromise, to start the work with the hope, that FOC will be achieved "soon".
If HAL can't go on with the production, the rate can't be increased and the costs will not go down so easy either.

That's the same problem, that forced the MK1A compromise too, when HAL asked IAF to accept a slightly modernised MK1 to keep the production line going, until ADA can develop MK2.

The same cycle on and on.

Btw, another informative article by Anantha Krishnan!
As passionate as he is about Tejas, the first squadron or the people behind the development, he still is able to write great articles without the usual sensationalism. That's what journalists should do, inform the reader and not just sell an article.

actually......

In short, HAL wants IAF to accept the initial fighters from next block (from SP-21 onwards) based on the provision DAL (drawing applicability lists) for FOC released in October 2017.

but iaf is adding more and mores in list....which...hal is unable to deliver.......

Read the article again, since you mixing up things. IAF is asking for the trainers to be the same standard, rather than IOC and FOC separated. That is an issue that concerns the IOC production!
The FOC production, starting with the SP21, is as explained depending on ADA achieving FOC first and that's where HAL now asks for more compromises.

:frusty:What more IAF is adding now
IAF, HAL end impasse over Tejas trainers Saturday 23 June 2018 ...

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) seem to have arrived at a consensus to end the stalemate over Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas trainers.

Onmanorama can confirm now that IAF will have to probably wait till 2021 to get the Tejas trainer of their ‘liking.’ It means there won’t be any trainers from the first block of 20 Series Production (SP) line for now, which will be in tune with the Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) standards. ...

Makes sense from IAFs point of view, if you want to train pilots, with trainers that have the same capabilities, but it's certainly too late to make that switch.

2 weeks ago HAL Chief said that Tejas FOC is in december 2018. Now IAF Chief is telling that Tejas FOC is 2019. What the hell is going on.:frusty::frusty::frusty:

No, no and no again.

1) trainer issue is settled
2)next batch (FOC standard Sp-21 onwards) is already on the jig so there isn’t the issue that without FOC production will halt, HAL has fairly said early FOC SPs can have a few confessions.

By the way, the idea of concurrency (beginning production and continuing development as you go along) is quite a standard feature of modern fighter projects.

And the idea that issues faced in mk.1 will be replicated in Mk.1A and mk.2 is myopic thinking to say the least

On the news about IAF taking over Tejas project, now corrupt babus within IAF have full control over killing off Mk2 project before it even takes off..

Tejas Mk2 must have internal weapon bey for more stealth.
You will have it in last month of 2030. Haha...
Today parikar said that he force IAF to induct Tejas at the time when project going nowhere. This shows it is IAF which don't want Tejas. These big IAF officers are smart in talk ( may be trained by foreign venders ) by giving very good impression on indigenous product but in secret they add some extra demand in order to ensure delay. I can remember a debet on RStv where one can clearly see the frustration of DRDO guy

You can't just wish for an internal bay and manufacture it. Remember that this compromises the internal volume of the plane, ammunition must be designed for it (small diameter and length bombs etc) . Stealth planes are designed ab initio not as an afterthought

Better sell Saras and Tejas Designs to private conglomerates. Let them carry forward with more research.

Tejas is in fact outsourcing parts to private entities. Saying that privatizing it will be a panacea for all things is not going to work. For orders to be churned definitive fixed orders are needed. For eg the delay in SP10 was because additional modifications were requested.

What are the modifications in sp10? I really suspect the chalta hai attitude of babus nothing else. That vikrant is also a decade long project now. Nothing will work in public sector.
