That is a Belgian company and an APFSDS... not a full-caliber AP round which performs as good as the crappy steel-cored 3UBR8.

PS: Armand exaggerated, 40 mm CTA can not perforate a T-55 frontally at normal combat ranges.

I know this is a Belgian. I consider that he in general is not needed. In the system two tapes of

. One with API - HC for a fight with IFCМ and LAV and HE - Frag for a fight against an infantry. In the modern modules for a fight against tanks ATGM is used, for fight with gun emplacements of ATGM a thermobaric warhead.

For APFSDS rounds...

CTA 40mm penetrates 150mm RHA@ 1500m
Dagger 25mm penetrates 85mm RHA@ 1000m
2A72 30mm penetrates 50mm RHA@ 1000m

Which can be penetrated at normal combat range of 1000m. I read its frontal armour at 150mm RHA.

You take descriptions of only one round- it is not correct. Here formula of calculation for automatic cannon :
kt= (St*Ta)/(Pr*cF)

kt - this efficiency of cannon on a target
St- it is a frontal area of target
Ta- - thickness of the armor
Pr- it is penetration of round
cF- - combat rate of fire

No. At 1,000 m the CTA 40 APFSDS will penetrate less than 170 mm LOS at 60°. We are talking here about medium caliber APFSDS, with a velocity far away from the optimum and a very low core and fin diameter. An increase of 50 mm armour penetration per 500 m is even unachievable by tank APFSDS operating at their optimum velocity.

The value 150 mm at 1,500 m comes probably from the Eurosatory 2006 where a 75 mm steel plate sloped at 60° was shown after being penetrated by a CTA 40 APFSDS - but since modern APFSDS are more efficient against sloped armour, the penetration in unsloped steel would probably be 130 - 140 mm.

And you "read" that the T-55 has 150 mm thick armour? Where? Or are you kidding me? There is definetly no source claiming that the front armour of the T-55 would be 150 mm thick only, check Wikipedia, literature, anything... it is the very most basic knowledge that the T-55 has 200 mm thick front armour.

The 25 mm APFSDS will also not penetrate 85 mm at 1,000 m... this is far more than Americans claim for their DU APFSDS or Oerlikon for their highly efficient designs.

He wants to show that a single round can penetrate the armour of the tank. He does not need any formula not designed for calculating armour penetration to do so.

Look! So that you do not say that I protect the Russian(Ukrainian) weapon only. One round of 30 x 113V is not able to strike a tank on the characteristics. But French the aviation cannon of DEFA 552 has rapidity of fire 1500 r/min. And successfully contests with them.

I defend, science itself

Russia and France together will create a BMP

Russia is expanding military-technical cooperation with other countries
Russia expands its participation in military-technical cooperation with foreign countries on a new level. This is one of the main news of the 2nd International Forum "Engineering Technologies-2012" which continues its work in Zhukovsky near Moscow.

The formal business of the forum ended. Friday, Saturday and Sunday - the days of massive hits. However, negotiations continue and become aware of the new details about the displayed weapons and defense development prospects in Russia.

Deputy General Director of "Rosoboronexport" said Igor Sevastyanov, in general, sensational news. According to him, Russia and France are working together to develop infantry fighting vehicle based on the Russian BMP-3. Despite the criticism of the BMP-3, under the auspices of the Russian-French group of Arms for the Army - is developing the BMP to the French base and the Russian arms - said Sevastyanov, adding that "the machine will be a year and a half, maximum two years ".

It is worth mentioning that criticizes the BMP-3 only senior Defense Department, and the claims are totally understandable. Foreign customers who purchased this infantry combat vehicle, it is very happy. The first and biggest buyer of BMP-3 became the United Arab Emirates. The army of this country at the same time in France, bought a tank, "Leclerc". For many years, these cars were in the same order. Obviously, the French military experts have studied it well and have found very suitable basis for a more perfect BMP. Against the background just fine overtones of unbridled military machine native witchcraft, the French did put on the BMP-3, and rightly so. Joint development can turn out very good. However, we must make a reservation - work in the beginning, and what will be the joint appearance of BMP has not been decided. It is possible that as the chassis still choose one of the French armored vehicles - they are too good.

According to Sevastyanov, a similar situation with the APC. "France is interested in creating a joint vehicle for the markets of third countries and, possibly, for the French army," - he said.

Again, one can not forget how recently publicly scolded the BTR-80 former first deputy defense minister Vladimir Popovkin, calling them almost "coffins on wheels."

Meanwhile, the BTR-80 has long recognized as one of the most successful of wheeled armored vehicles and is armed with dozens of armies in the world. In place of it had to come BTR-90 is the last service testing. But the BTR-90 is strongly disliked Minister Serdyukov. First of all, because the output of this assault on the sides of armored personnel carriers, and not through the rear ramp, as in the whole world. However, the TTP for the development of BTR-90 were given non-random people and true professionals in uniform, who in the eighties have served in the Defense Department, and we knew what our army armored vehicle needs.

A specific interest in working with Russian companies and American companies are showing. "We hope that within a few years go out with them on joint development of something" - said I.Sevastyanov.

Events of recent years in the Middle East, no lowered interest in Russian weapons in the world market and the growth of contracts for the purchase of Russian military equipment and weapons - vivid evidence.

"Events and contracts in recent years show that in spite of all our equipment in demand. Events in the Middle East have shown that Russian equipment is not weak, that it is not the" picture ", and is capable of fighting. Russia has much to be proud. Our technique demand, exports are growing, "- said Igor Sevastyanov reporters on Friday at the second International Forum" Engineering Technologies-2012 ".

According to him, perhaps, inferior to the Russian military equipment by foreign comfort for the crew, but this is because it is designed for combat operations. Trailing for comfort, our combat vehicles are not inferior in combat effectiveness.

Sevastyanov recalled the well-known professionals to the truth: the life cycle of the tank on the battlefield is only 20-30 minutes, in spite of all protection levels. During this time he must perform all the tasks and destroy as many enemy armored vehicles. And our tanks are capable of this.

Takes place in Zhukovsky International Forum "Engineering Technologies-2012" representative "Rosoboronexport" called a good platform for the demonstration of Russian military equipment, as potential foreign customers can see the potential of Russian arms.

In addition to military vehicles, overseas interest in the technologies and recycling of old munitions, which are developed by experts of national defense, but that the emphasis in the Defense Department does not see, still stupid to blow up and burn the shells and bullets.

So, now, "Rosoboronexport" is in talks to build lines for recycling rounds in several European countries. As it turns out, is negotiating with several former Warsaw Pact countries on industrial demilitarization and disposal of old cartridges. Cartridges can rassnaryazhatsya any standard, including NATO.

The Russian and Indian specialists are working to create a hypersonic missile, based on the dimension and a supersonic cruise missile "Brahmos" told Chief Marketing Manager of the Russian-Indian joint venture "BrahMos Aerospace," Praveen Pathak.

Lord Pathak said that "work on hypersonic category has only just begun and in time will take at least five years." He also said: "For the missile" BrahMos "were used achievements of the Russian side, Russia used the engine and set the Indian navigation system. At hypersonic missile will be installed the new engine and all systems on board will also be updated."

On the open demonstration site exhibited the best examples of domestic military equipment and a full-size mock-Russian-Indian joint cruise missile "Brahmos".
