when will we get the first images :namaste:
There were reports that 5 pictures were taken and maybe released tonight. Maybe they are just piecing together stuff....and most of the team probably had a sleepless night, so maybe they are also resting a bit.

The tension during those 12 minutes was so high

Even Modi was uber tense!

Nope, it's more like 280 million or so. It's not direct air either. They give to some ngos like oxfam in England who in turn do "work" here.

We dont want it, India tells Britain: We don't want your aid - Telegraph

Infact the guys who are fighting hard to keep the aid are those ngos, creating sobstories and what not. Most of those comments are just butthurt brits who still are stuck up with "the sun doesnt set on the british empire " garbage. Guys got a bit luck during the 18th-19th century and should gracefully accept that they are returning back to where they were originally.

I was thinking this is a country where there are parts of the country people earn just a few pounds a hour compared to us, living in poor conditions and yet they spend millions or billions on space program.....or at war with the neighbours. What is more important?

Whislt I can not deny the staggering feat of human power here- India should really really concentrate on its on population first before worrying about sending an orbitor to Mars, how will this help the 100's or millions in poverty in India, or the millions and millions who live in immediate flood risk on the ganges. I'm not anti space exploration, and sure American, Russia, and Europe have economic problems to sort but nothing like the scale of Indias woes for 95% of their population. I cannot wait to see a person walk on Mars or even the moon again, but I cant help but think Indias funds are mispent here.

We send them about £250m a year in aid and they've got a better space program then us? Seriously? No more aid for you!

Yes from those mugs in the UK in the form of overseas aid. Why are we so gullible?

Congratulations India for becoming the FIRST Asian Nation to have reached Mars and making History! I see the british media has kept a lid on this subject and have as usual make a huge deal about yet another war which is fast becoming tedious to watch!

About time we stopped sending them millions of £s in foreign aid then, not that it will happen, I think perhaps there's a commission feed back we are not aware of with these foreign aid payments.

It is trying to project this as an "ok but not great" mission :

Indian spacecraft reaches Mars for less than it cost to make 'Gravity' | The Verge

"It won't land on Mars, but will use five scientific instruments to gather data about the planet's surface and atmosphere. The 3,000-pound spacecraft isn't as technologically complex as those launched by the US and Russia, but reaching orbit is no small feat."

These "first world" folks won't ever change their patronizing and condescending attitude even if India starts a colony on Mars on other planets.

Interesting.

BBC News - Indian media: 'Namaste, Mangalyaan'

Indian media: 'Namaste, Mangalyaan'

In reporting Mars mission, this is what the beloved BBC included in the above article :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Sexualisation" of women

In other news, a new UN-sponsored study says sexualisation of women features heavily in Indian movies with less representation of strong roles, reports The Economic Times.

The study, conducted by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, and supported by UN Women and The Rockefeller Foundation, has looked at female characters in popular cinema from around the world.

India has the maximum portrayals of attractive women in its films and at least 35% of female characters are shown with some degree of nudity, it says.

The study adds that Indian movies very rarely show women in "significant speaking roles", or "working as engineers and scientists".

And finally, the Indian cabinet is set to approve a large-scale programme to promote cleanliness in the country, the Hindustan Times reports.

The scheme, to be launched in October, aims to provide a toilet in every household in the country and make a "Clean India" by 2019, it adds.

As part of the initiative, the government will build toilets in 10.4 million homes and 500,000 public toilets in urban areas, as well as 88 million toilets in rural areas.

The initiative is significant as a large number of Indians still do not have easy access to proper sanitation, the paper explains.

According to the 2011 census data, 12% out of the 67 million households in urban India defecate in the open, says Hindustan Times.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Must be the new Western trend to add non-related topics that ail India when trying to "report" on Indian achievements.

India's Mars mission is Asia's pride: China

BEIJING: China today expressed rare praise for India saying the successful launch of the satellite to Mars was a "pride of Asia". The praise is significant because it comes amid strain in the relationship caused the border standoff between the two countries even after a "successful visit" to India by Chinese president Xi Jinping. "We congratulate India on Mars satellite entering orbit successfully," Hua Chunying, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman said on Wednesday. "This is pride of India and the pride of Asia, and a landmark progress in humankind's exploration of the outer space. So we congratulate India on that" China has not yet sent a mission to Mars making this one of the few areas where India has stolen the lead in Asia. China successfully sent robots to land on the moon last year becoming the first Asian country to achieve this feat. But it has not attempted going to the red planet. Hua also indicated China might be interested in enhancing cooperation with in the area of satellite research. "We are willing to work with the world for peaceful development of the outer space and make our contribution to sustainable development and long term peace of outer space," she said. The spokeswoman said China was in favour of peaceful development of the outer space, and carries out cooperation with other countries in this field.

Government needs to take some hard decisions and ban channels like BBC and CNN. No need to give them air time on Indian airwaves anymore.

Just looking around on net, been to BBC and read some comments.

''wah kya maza aa raha hai''

Many but hurts cockroaches oozing the same old pus they inherited when we booted them out. One sane comment was like, 'we have 500,000 food banks in UK first talk our own poverty before giving lectures to India.

The comment section at BBC has already gone 700 posts down, tells how accurate the mars probe has got inserted into their empty cerebral orbits.

Jiyo ISRO what a day.

Check out the comments section in daily mail.co.uk

India's spacecraft orbits Mars and it cost less than Hollywood hit Gravity | Daily Mail Online

Point is India should keep progressing and ignore the simple minded folks from West or the propaganda there. Idiots in those nations who live crappy average lives can spew all the venom they have while capitalists and entrepreneurs from there who aren't stupid and see a massive market in India will continue to invest here.

In fact take it as a positive sign that so many are burning with envy on seeing such achievements. The racist and vile comments in Western media outlets reflect that.

As far as UK goes, what goes around comes around eventually. Englandistan in making is interesting to watch!
