My dear, IAF were absolutely pissed when the Naval Aviation Wing was created. The wanted the Sea Harriers & Kamovs under their control. Now they are pissed about Army aviation wing. They see it as encroachment over their territory.

Re: HAL Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Cause we have Helina... a bit heavier than hellfire, but with marginally better range and payload than hellfire.

Ok, saw a few sites... It does have to do with the hardpoint limit. LCH has a quad launcher planned for the inner hardpoints only, outer hardpoints gets a twin launcher. ALH-WSI has a much lesser hardpoint limit than LCH

Take off weight issue? Quad launchers would mean lower sorties...

Rudra we saw can carry twin launchers of Helina, why not hellfire type quad launchers?

Once Rafale is commissioned, can our Jaguars be dedicated for CAS? Or would it reach EoL? Can it be upgraded to carry a punchier anti tank cannon? The DEFA cannon is too weak for Anti Tank.

Instead we should build something similar to A-10C with glass cockpit, EW, FLIR, 8 hardpoints, 30 × 173 mm 3 barrel cannon & dual kavery engines.

Sir, would this mean CAS Turbo-prop/Fan craft will take up a role in between SEAD and pure Infantry/Armor escort? CAS Turbo-prop/Fan craft = Deep hit & run ground attack? CAS helo gunship = close area denial to enemy ground forces?

Sir, I wanted to know in which type of scenarios is an attack helo ideal and for which scenarios Turbofan Crafts would be ideal...

AC-130U is US' ace up it's sleeve for CAS... not for export.

Came to know that HJT 39 CAT was being developed as an AJT as well as a dedicated CAS platform. Did it get shelved?

Kunal Sir, are you referring to the BAE Hawk/Sitara/CAT? CBU-105 or JDAMS on them... but will surely miss the GAU-8/A

Ooh too bad... I guess ADA wont be developing something like this as well as they are tied up with LCA Mk II and AMCA...

Not at all crap... US planned to retire A-10 with F-35... but later realized it is not possible. So they did a multi-million $ upgrade and made it into A-10C with PE Upgrade. Now they wont be replaced till 2040. USAF quoted that trying to replace A-10C with F-35 is a giant leap backwards in CAS...

With the end of Afghan war, US is scrapping about 100 of them... wont they like to get some money for them instead?

IMHO the solution is A-10C. Being a turbofan, midway between a turboprop and a turbojet, its best of both worlds.
