So you and I are paying for Ticket's gaandmasti? My next car will be an EV.
Nope, more like this is another scheme for GoI to get more tax revenue, how they spend that revenue is up to them.

This budget is Lauki Do Pyaaza.

Tastes okay, but you're eating lauki instead of chicken.
Better for SME industrialists. Even there convenience has been increased instead of any direct reliefs.
Above average budget in aftermath of Covid. Only after we get the expected 11% growth this year, next yr budget can improve.

The fact that the panel on India Today is going mad not knowing whether to praise or find faults, means budget is good for country.

ex: two guys said, how can you defend the country with atma nirbhar Bharat. One of them is ex-finance secretary Garg.
Famous economist Aiyar on budget till now: "We have to read complete budget in order to find something bad about it"

Excluding pensions, MoD's allocation this year pegged at Rs 3,62345 crore.

Last year this was Rs 3.37 lakh crore.

Capital outlay for the armed forces has gone up from Rs 113734 to Rs 135060 crore this year.

That is a good jump but lesser than expected. India has spent a whopping Rs 20,776 crore extra on the capital outlay for defence forces that was budgeted for in the last financial year.

Emergency procurements given the China situation
.

I am happy at how things have panned out. Would have been happier had the capital outlay been even higher at Rs 150000 crores .
We also have to add to this the emergency purchase we are doing since last year after Galwan incident. Add all that amount spent to this budget.

Govt. trying to calm farmers by throwing freebies. They don't realize the protest was never about farmers, only to pull down the BJP govt.

Edit: Actually they do, but are clueless.
The government has to think beyond Punjab, Haryana and West UP farmers. It is true that Covid has affected farmers' finances.

The opposition has weaponized farmers, this game can only be fought with farmers. Government can't come out and say "this has nothing to do with farmers, they're trying to bring down the government." That will make them look weak, insecure, and stupid, with 303 seats in the Lok Sabha. So the strategy should be to make farmers generally happy, so the opposition looks weak/insecure/stupid banking on farmers for a mudda. The facts of the farm acts are already not on their side.

That said, this "farm cess on fuels" is very below-the-belt on the rest of us. We know MSP is paid for by our taxes, but you're making it more obvious.

So long Govt doesn't again increase the reduced Central Excise duty on fuel, the change wouldn't impact us. But...... but in all likelihood within next 3 months they will hike the Excise duty again.

Overall not a bad budget. But very very conservative. A little tax break to Middle class would have increased market demand and would have helped the economy more. In fact given the inflation rate, taxbreak should have compensated for the inflation rate a little bit as it does every budget. Unfortunately, some like us don't get regular increase in salary adjusted to inflation.
