Lance Cpl. Austin J. Lapierre fires an M777 A2 155 mm howitzer Jan. 30 during Exercise Fire Dragon 13-2 in the East Fuji Maneuver Area. The live-fire portion of Fire Dragon provides Marines the opportunity to enhance their mission capabilities in artillery operations. Lapierre is a field artillery cannoneer with 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.

An Afghan and coalition security force provide security during a mission that detained six Taliban insurgents in Nerkh district. The detained Taliban leader facilitated the movement of weapons and improvised explosive device materials to insurgents throughout Wardak province.

Off the waist catapult launches an F-14B Tomcat assigned to Fighter Squadron THREE TWO (VF-32), (Swordsmen,) during flight operations onboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3 was embarked aboard Truman to provide close air support and conduct Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions over Iraq. The USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group and CVW-3 were on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of the war on terror.26 DEC 2004.

Original Lockheed Martin X-32 for the ASTOVL program. Yes, X-32. Long story but when CALF/JAST was merged the X-32 designation was reassigned to Boeing's JSF entry and LM's became X-35. Engine was a variant of the P&W F100
