The Vulcan Turns By *Estruda.

The Vulcan is not slow neither is it quiet,
during it's operational career it was flown at close to mach 1, at altitudes ranging from 45ft to 65,000.
Its engines produce twice the power of the eurofighter typhoon, it is capable on full throttle of smashing windows and setting off car alarms at a distance of damn near a mile

Another one of this beauty :

The Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche (stealth)

The Boeing-Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche was an advanced five-blade armed reconnaissance and attack helicopter designed for the United States Army. The RAH-66 program was canceled in 2004, before mass production began, after nearly $7 billion was spent on the program.

SOME COMMENTS ON THIS PHOTO :

A shot from my office that I got while on that cruise from the ships store. I'm the one on the right there. Now that is what you call a rather small airport.
wow, big boat, small airport. That's a lot of planes, but it doesn't look like a lot of runway to land on.
technically they dont land on it. the term they use is controlled crash ... scary aint it
amazing... and you're in that photo??? Where!!!!?!?!??!?!?!?!
Holy sh*t
What an awesome picture, it's always soooo impressive to see this kind of huge beast
And all those people standing there and probably saying all together "Cheeeeeeese"

The Fog of War
by *aresye

He quotes :
For anybody who's been on a 6+ month deployment on a ship, they would understand the surreal feeling you get as your body adjusts to time changes, groundhog day schedules, and the horrid temperature.

This picture of the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) in the Arabian Sea, was meant to capture the haze layer we had every day for weeks, but in addition, I managed to somewhat capture the surreal feeling of being a lone carrier, in the middle of nowhere.

The Tumansky R-31 Engine of the MiG-25 is a single shaft afterburning engine. The MiG-25 has two of these engines. To the right of the picture, the Variable Jet Nozzle can be seen.

Former Chief of staff of the Indian Army, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, once famously said about Gurkhas:
"If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha."

The Starfighter tribute :

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a single-engine, high-performance, supersonic interceptor aircraft originally developed for the United States Air Force (USAF) by Lockheed.

A total of 2,578 Starfighters were eventually produced, mostly by NATO members. The F-104 served with the air forces of over a dozen nations. The operational service of the Starfighter ended with its retirement by the Italian Air Force in May 2004, some 46 years after its introduction in 1958 by the USAF.

Goodbye, Starfighter...

This shot was taken during the last "meeting" with Italian Starfighters.
It is not a very good picture, it is only a little tribute to a great aircraft...

You may remember the Vulcan from the James Bond movie Thunderball.
