what is a pagoda mast...??

It's the towering mast on top of the bridge of WW2 Imperial Japanese battleships and heavy cruisers. They're called as such because they look like Japanese pagoda towers. On top of these masts sit Japanese optical range finders, which in WW2 were the best of their kinds (the Americans did not come close). These masts were distinct only to Imperial Japanese ships.
