Kunal, is it going to be completely redone in 9mm? Did something go wrong with 5.56mm x 30?

I think they are producing two variants, One in old 5.56mm and other in 9mm ..

The reason here could be linked with availability of ammunition with various forces ..

Kunal you make sense. Otherwise essentially it's just another 9mm SMG. What about the Anamika?

This is a wild one - I wonder if you can't chamber the JVPC for 7,62 x 39? Ideal for effective crew defence.

o_O Something like these?

Swedish Interdynamics MKS in 5.56 x 45mm NATO

Russian Avtomat Korobov TKB-022P in 7.62 x 39mm

Russian AO-46 Compact Assault Rifle in 5.45 x 39mm

I am by no means an expert, but this is what I gathered. The 5.56x30 has too much velocity at short distance. The bullet will exit the body cleanly without fragmenting. Also the bullet is too small and may not damage internal organs. But the bullet loses velocity quickly at distances more than 50m or so, it has very little momentum (it's mass is already low) to cause damage.
9 mm is more dependent on mass to cause damage and will kill at short distance due to larger wound. But it cannot penetrate body armour effectively due to less velocity.

7.39 would be difficult in MSMC because of bullet length. 7.62x25 would be nice, if they can create a wildcat based on 9mm.

But availability and commonality of ammo is definitely a factor...

The JVPC (earlier called the MSMC) is the arguably the best close protective carbine developed in India. Indigenously designed by the DRDO's Armaments Research & Development Institute and produced by the Ordnance Factory Trichy. It has the potential to replace every 9 mm carbine used by the army, the paramilitary and police forces.

Wow, she's come along way! For the love of god just get it into production and replace all those 9mm Sten guns from the 1910s!!! Even if it isn't 100% able to meet the IA's absurdly high requirements it should be more than able to meet the needs of all police units in India, this looks like a weapon that would be more suitable for law enforcement agencies than the INSAS and MP-5.

There hardly seems to be any recoil on that thing.. even in burst fire.

Indeed, would like to know what calibre this weapon is chambered for, if it is 9mm then the lack of recoil is to be expected, if it is heavier then that then this is impressive.

MSMC nee JVPC should replace age old 9 mm sten carbine still in use by the army, paramilitary and state police forces if the weapon is perfected and trial is successful.
