The Crimean War loss was due to the fact that the cowardly British had allied with the French. France and Britain were the greatest colonial powers that the world had ever seen. If they had fought the battle alone then things might have been different. Also the Russian state`s greatest strength was in defense and not offense. Britain and France both had technological superiority over the Russians during the 18th and 19th century. British rifle makers were often pioneers in the field of arms production. This was the reason why both Britain and France managed to create such a vast empire with a tiny population and win wars against Russia etc.
