Ya'll Nibbiars India has history of private cities and town developed over centuries, thought it was extremely necessary to discuss this topic furhers as a legacy of towns and cities developed since the Raj era and company's town and cities movement since early 20th century and the socialist movement of mid 20th century with a remphais on the movement again with growing numbers of newer towns and even cities been created in the 21st century to document all this development a dedicated thread was necessary, An important odyessy in the Urban Planning and development of India.

Similarly, Lonavala Lavasa was an excellent concept lost to Politics.

Still, it is one of the best Urban planning seen in India. Looks like European city built on mountains.

amby valley was from sahara group, stayed a few nights there once.
It was all the Buzz when the project was launched.

I remember Sahara was sponsoring the Indian Cricket team and they sold flats to multiple Cricketers that time.

Ya'll Nibbiars Still with the group but unable to maintain and sell as previously, almost deserted and unmaintented.

Ya'll Nibbiars Bad location, No wind as at foothill of mountain from all directions, In both summer and winter extreme heat with only few bushes surrounded and no large tree cover, and only season appropriate is the Monsoons.

And Currently the development is in complete ruins.

yup, remember seeing those too. individual houses for sachin, ganguly (memory little fuzzy on this since it's been almost twenty years) and for the rest a bunch of two storey buildings with apartments. all on same street.

amby valley concept itself is not practical as a township, it's costly to sustain daily supplies even today.
only global mega corporations can afford to buy it in one piece.
at that time itself, some of the luxury tents were 25k per night.

Ya'll Nibbiars currently only new industrial towns are booming as private town and cities, with population ranging from 5,000 to even 50,000. This trend has only accelerated now with prospect of you more such towns or cities emerging in future.

I like smaller "Urban Towns" with population between 20-30K to 1-2Lac max
than the semi-rural Towns or Ultra big Urban cities.
Noida for long time was like Urban smaller Town with population less than 3-4 lac. It was a nicer place next to Delhi. But now the population has risen and there is crowd everywhere.

Reliance METcity

Seems more on the lines of the SEZ scam both the Congress + UPA & Reliance under Mukesssbhai (which was essentially a real estate land grab) were unfolding upon us in Navi Mumbai / Konkan region before massive public protests stymied the whole plan's implementation across India .
