^ The T-90 can, but its Russian. And, I am referring to the Type 99 KM. Its a good bang for the buck considering its 1.7 million dollars cheaper than the Arjun. Its faster than the Arjun, has greater range, has a 2100 hp engine, higher power to weight ratio. Smoothbore guns have very less barrel wear compared to rifled guns and have greater suitability for APFSDS rounds. Even the new FCS on Arjun developed by BEL are known to have malfunctioned frequently when exposed to high temperatures, like in deserts. Plus Type 99 can carry 63 rounds compared to the Arjun's 39 and has an autoloader. Transmission on both tanks are German, Arjun using the MTU 838 Ka 501 and Type 99 using the German derived MB871 Ka 501.
Type 99KM
The newest and much-improved variant, with newer modular active protection system, JD-4 active laser defense system, more powerful 2100-hp engine, and more. It is also equipped with a 155 mm gun capable of firing missiles and next-generation kinetic rounds.
The Arjun will show its true colours when the Mk2 variant is unveiled, I suppose. Arjun's Kanchan armor is good, but no specific details are available for armor on Type 99. And, most of the electronics and navigation on Arjun is of Israeli and French origin, with most systems being developed by DRDO are yet to be adopted and tested.
