This "we nuke you if you nuke us" argument has been going on for quite a while now. It does not solve any purpose. :blah:
Are we not forgetting that this discussion was about the Nasr missile?
Lets take a deep breath and calm down.
If you are a Pakistani and reading this: What in hell is the logic of initiating a suicide mission with this stupid idea of nuking forward Indian forces as a first strike just to stop an Indian advance? Is that your confidence in your conventional warfare abilities? Even if you hurt India a lot in this process, you would practically give India the license to wipe out your nation with a retaliatory strike. Is this idea worth it?
Just close your eyes and imagine your loved ones. Be honest with yourself and ask yourself if god offered to destroy India but take away those loved ones(not in a flash but with a slow radiation disease that makes their hair fall off and makes them vomit their guts out as you watch on in horror and despair), would you make that wish? You don't need to answer me, just answer this to yourself.
If you expend this effort in not suicidal platforms like Nasr but in developing your conventional warfare capabilities to delay Indian action till international pressure builds, you would have more than just a chance of surviving a conflict with India, something that the nuclear option you pursue takes right off the table. Don't buy this B.S. propaganda your government is selling you. Question your leaders like we question ours. With the right efforts, training and doctrine, even a weaker force can play havoc with a stronger one. We Indians plan to do the same in the event of Chinese adventurism. You can plan to do the same to us.
If you are an Indian and reading this:Are you alright with a lesser power like Pakistan nuking and causing so much damage to your motherland? Or will you, like the Pakistanis, seek gratification from Mutual Assured Destruction? And if you plan to unload your nuclear stockpile on a failed state just to see it wiped out off the face of the Earth, what will be a deterrent for a Chinese attack when your nuclear stockpiles run dry razing Pakistan to the ground? Oops we often forget that we have a much stronger adversary on our northern borders and in our home waters, that will take a lot more capability (than what we now possess) to defend against.
Nasr is a serious threat and no matter how much we deny it, it has the capability to render force concentration and cold start obsolete. We forget that Nasr is a tactical missile targeting forward troops and not our cities. And if we are so confident about our nukes wiping Pakistan off in a nuclear conflict, maybe we should now try our utmost to prevent and contain the damage a Pakistani first strike may incur. This is the direction that this discussion should have gone in.
But no, we want to take part in a nonsense chest thumping match and talk irresponsibly about destroying Mecca. Don't feed Pakistani pride by making them believe that they represent the entire Islamic world on the Nuclear frontier. Nor does it do us any good to speak so carelessly and spread communal hatred here. Remember that we are India and not Hindustan. We have the third highest Muslim population in the world. Please behave in a mature fashion because this is not the comments section of a youtube video but the Defence Forum India.
Now to take this discussion towards a more constructive outcome, let me get the ball rolling:-
We need to discuss the options that India has on the table to prevent the launch of Nasr missile or prevent the damage it can cause.
According to me:-
1. Attack on Pakistan Army Strategic Command's C3 (Command Control Communications) network.
2. A layered SAM system comprising of MRSAM Barak-8, SRSAM Aakash and QRSAM Maitri to provide redundancy and prevent saturation of air defences by multiple Nasr launches.
Note:- only SRSAM Aakash has gained IOC.
3.Ballistic missile shield comprising of AAD missile may also be considered as an option.
4. MRLS like Smerch or Pinaka for rapid counter-battery fire in case a Nasr launch is detected.
5. ISR assets dedicated to locate and track movements of highly mobile Nasr launchers.
6.EW capabilities with mobile armoured formations as softkill measures.
7. Overhaul of existing armoured tactics that allow quick and flexible force concentration and dispersal.
(Something like this was part of Soviet armour training during the cold war. They practically detonated tactical warheads and had their formations exercise around the area.)
