The Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday summoned Pakistan deputy envoy Syed Haider Shah and lodged a strongly worded protest against Islamabad’s Gilgit-Baltistan Order, 2018, which essentially gives people of Gilgit-Baltistan all rights enjoyed by the four provinces of Pakistan.

Asserting that the entire Jammu and Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan areas, was an integral part of India, the MEA warned Islamabad of any move to declare it as the fifth province.

Gilgit-Baltistan is treated as a separate geographical entity by Pakistan. Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh are four provinces of Pakistan. “It was clearly conveyed that the entire state of J&K which also includes the ‘Gilgit-Baltistan’ areas is an integral part of India,” MEA said in a statement.

It further said any action by Pakistan to alter the status of a territory by force or illegal occupation had no legal basis and it should immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation. “Any action to alter the status of any part of the territory under forcible and illegal occupation of Pakistan has no legal basis,” MEA conveyed to Shah.

The new order, which replaced the Gilgit Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order of 2009, essentially seizes the powers of Gilgit Baltistan Council and entrusts the Prime Minister of Pakistan with indisputable authorities. All powers exercised by the four provincial assemblies under Schedule IV of the Constitution of Pakistan has been entrusted to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

The ministry said it was also conveyed to the Pakistani deputy envoy that such actions could neither hide the illegal occupation of part of J&K by Pakistan nor the grave human rights violations being perpetrated upon those residing there.

It is believed that China’s concerns about the unsettled status of Gilgit-Baltistan prompted Pakistan to change its status since Beijing’s ambitious CPEC project passes through the region, which borders Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

This is the second time that Pakistan’s deputy envoy has been summoned this week. Shah was summoned on Wednesday too over the killing of a seven-month-old infant in unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhimber sector.

Warn? So what is India going to do if the Pakis make it into the 5th province?
I want Pakis to declare GB as it's 5th province. At least, it will put some pressure on Indian government to scrap article 370. Not that scraping it would change much, but it would provide some entertainment.

The story of Pakistan's 'disappeared' Shias

CCTV images from a local mosque show 30-year-old Naeem Haider being led away in handcuffs by more than a dozen armed men. Some have their faces covered with masks, others are in police uniform.

It was the night of 16 November 2016. Mr Haider has not been seen since. Despite the CCTV video evidence both the police and intelligence services have denied in court that he is in their custody.

Mr Haider is one of 140 Pakistani Shias to have "disappeared" over the past two years, according to community activists. Their families believe they were taken into custody by the intelligence services. Over 25 of the missing, including Mr Haider, belong to Pakistan's largest city Karachi.

Mr Haider's family say he had returned to the port city from pilgrimage in Karbala, Iraq, with his pregnant wife just two days before he was detained.

Uzma Haider has since given birth to a baby boy who has never seen his father.

"My kids are always asking me, 'When will our dad come home?'" she told the BBC. "What answer can I give them? No-one is telling us where he is or how he is. At least tell us what he's accused of."

The families of the other "disappeared" Shia men have similar stories of their loved ones being picked up from their homes at night by the security forces.

A tearful group of women gathered in a house in a working class Shia neighbourhood of Karachi told me they have been given no information from the authorities about where their relatives are being held or what the allegations against them are.

Community leaders though, say they have been told the men are suspected of links to a secretive militia in Syria, the Zainabiyoun Brigade, thought to be made up of around 1,000 Pakistani Shias fighting on behalf of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

One young man, who did not want to be identified, told the BBC he had been held in a "small, dark cell" where he was "badly tortured" by the security services, including by electric shocks. He says he was repeatedly interrogated about the Zainabiyoun, with questions focussed on who he knew in the brigade, and where their funding was coming from.

Another is social activist Samar Abbas. He was detained in Islamabad in January 2017 at the same time as a number of bloggers critical of Pakistan's military establishment.

They were released a few weeks later after a public outcry, however, Mr Abbas was held captive until March 2018. His brother-in-law was also detained and is still "missing".

United States Tells Pakistan's Army Chief To Take Action On Terrorists; Bajwa Says 'no Terrorists Here'
June 07, 2018 11:53 IST
  • US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has asked Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Bajwa to take necessary action against terrorist organizations
  • The Pakistan Army Chief, however, has denied any connections with any terrorists groups

Adding to the global crackdown on India's terror-friendly neighbour Pakistan, specifically of the increasingly sour US-Pak bilateral relations, United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo through a telephonic call, asked Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa to take the necessary action against terrorist organizations without making any distinctions.

The Pakistan Army chief, however, has denied any connections with any terrorists groups that might compromise the security of South Asia.

The US has urged Pakistan to crackdown on terror roughly a month after it placed travel restrictions on Pakistan diplomats based on its soil, not allowing said diplomats to travel beyond a 25-miles-radius from their installations. On the same day, Pakistan retaliated with the same move, putting travel restrictions for US diplomats.

The US' crackdown on Pakistan has been a running theme of 2018. In one of his first tweets of the new year, US President Donald Trump had issued a scathing assessment of Pakistan's 'lies and deceit' and motioned for US military aid to Pakistan to be stopped.

https://www.republicworld.com/world...n-on-terrorists-bajwa-says-no-terrorists-here

Lol! The usual empty threats by the Yanks which are as useless as tits on a tortoise. The Pakis know this and thus Bajwa is cocking a snook at them knowing full well that the Yanks are all talk and no action.

And Paki Generals are known for lying through their teeth. This turd Bajwa has the temerity to declare that there are no terrorists on Paki soil!! What a moron trying to defend the indefensible when the whole world knows there are more than 42 extremist/terrorist organizations freely roaming the streets of Pak and 36 terror training camps spread all over the Land Of The Pure.

Is the US going to slap sanctions on Pak as Trump mentioned last year? Not by a long shot. Their common refrain is that by doing so, Pak will become destabilised resulting in terrorists taking over their nukes!! What a frikkin lame duck argument!

Mob demolishes Ahmadiyya mosque in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:, MAY 24, 2018 17:44 IST

This is the latest attack on the victimised minority sect, who have been declared non-Muslims in the country.
Sunni extremists in Pakistan have demolished a historical mosque belonging to the Ahmadiyya community in Punjab province, the latest attack on the minority group in the Muslim-majority country.

A persecuted minority sect, the Ahmadiyya community was declared non-Muslims in Pakistan through a constitutional amendment in 1974 during the tenure of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The latest mob attack took place in Sialkot on Wednesday night.

    Nearby mosque suffers same fate
As the local municipal administration started demolishing a private property of an Ahmadiyya follower, about 600 miscreants demolished the nearby mosque later.

Ahmadiyya spokesman Saleemuddin said in a statement that the mob launched the attack at about 11 PM and it continued till 3 AM (local time).

“The place of worship and the house that has been demolished by the mob in Sialkot have great historical significance for members of the Ahmadiyya community all over the world,” he said.

    Police were mute spectators
The police kept on watching the vandalism and did nothing to prevent the attackers, Saleemuddin alleged, adding that it shows the state institutions have surrendered before the elements that are exploiting in the name of religion in order to fulfil their vested interests.

“Ahmadiyya places of worship have been under attack in the past as well, and so far not even a single culprit has been brought to justice,” Mr. Saleemuddin alleged.

Ahmadiyya people are not allowed to call their place of worship as mosques.

    Zia’s tough persecution line
Former president General Zia-ul-Haq had made it a punishable offence for Ahmadiyyas to call themselves Muslims or to refer to their faith as Islam.

The community is also banned from preaching as well as from travelling to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage. They are also not allowed to publish any material propagating their faith.

Members of the community in Pakistan have often been targeted, including in terror attacks.
All the temples are finished now so naturally the new target shall be other Muslims. Ahemadia, Khoja, Quadiani Muslims. That will be followed by shia or liberal Muslims.

Two civilians, Levies personnel martyred in Quetta gun attack

QUETTA : Three people, including a member of the Balochistan Levies, were martyred on Saturday after coming under fire from unknown assailants in the Sariab road area of the provincial capital.

The three were returning in a vehicle after offering Eid prayers when they came under attack, said police officials.

A large contingent of law enforcement personnel reached the site of the incident and started an initial investigation.

The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical and legal formalities.

Earlier in May, the provincial capital witnessed a major terrorist bid when five suicide bombers, attempting to storm the FC Madadgar Centre, were intercepted and killed by security forces.

“All five terrorists [were] killed by security forces,” an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement had said. “All five attackers were apparently Afghans.”

The attack was mounted in retaliation for the killing of the Balochistan Lashkar-e-Jhangvi chief Salman Badeni in one of the city’s most secure neighbourhoods near Quetta cantonment.
