Why are we Indians and Pakistanis fighting over who watches more porn, when the discussion should be, what countries produce the most porn? The answer to that question would inevitably point to the west. I also believe watching porn is no worse than producing porn. If the west feels no sense of shame by producing porn, then why should anyone feel a sense of shame by watching it?
Agreed - the whole thing about "ooooh, so shameful to watch porn" is a Victorian/Islamic morality, which is expected of Pakistanis, but not of Indians. Of course, it is another matter that a nation which claims to be as puritanical and "pious" as Pakistan, collectively screams "Astagfirullah!" at the mention of porn, but watches it in truckloads. Hypocrisy couldn't be more stark. And look at
@Pakistani Nationalist, calling "beghairati" when it comes to women watching porn. Somehow its ok for men like him to watch porn, but it becomes "shameful" if women watch it. This hypocrisy is all-pervading in conservative nations. Almost always, the most conservative nations are the most hypocritical.
Anyway, I don't think anyone needs to make fun of anyone for watching porn. But it is somewhat bewildering that 30 million Pakistanis watch more porn than 200 million Indians. It points to some sort of malaise, but hey - none of our business.
And another hypocrisy that stares us in the face is that Pakistan, which is overwhelmingly against homosexuality, leads the world in searches of gay porn. Even with its tiny internet user base. I have
nothing against homosexuals, and I don't hold it against Pakistanis for watching gay porn - its their will and wish. But the message that emanates from Pakistani society is very different from the reality on ground, as these statistics show.
And of course, the bestiality part would worry me, had I been a reasonable Pakistani. The video in "The Young Turks" which was posted by someone on this thread, clearly points to the real problem: bestiality. In other words, donkey sex, goat sex, etc.
