India and Pakistan have come a long way of rivalry. Since Independence to now their is a big difference in two nations economy, politics, global image and many other areas. One such area where Pakistan (or it suppose) has maintain an equality is military might. Each sovereign nation has institutions which decides the direction in which a country will proceed. And if that state is a democracy then it become necessary to maintain balance of power across it's institutions. Any imbalance can make democracy vulnerable to threats. The problem with Pakistan is it's psycho-faith of it's equality with India. In order to maintain such equality Pakistan from day one has funded it's military equally to India. But the problem pop out soon after the independence when economic parity between both nation started to widen up. It's natural for country to increase it's defense budget when it's economy is increasing so did India. But Pakistan unable to match up with India economically still tried it's best for military parity with India. This move by Pakistan made it's Financial institution, political institutions, judiciary and other ineffective in comparison to military. So this unbalance of power soon translated into the news of establishment of Dictator regime over Democracy. Every time after revival of civilian government the inferior complexity of people against India makes them to fund it's military more and more. This equation of Pakistan with one constant increment faster than other has made present democracy of Pakistan a pseudo-democracy.
Since partition Pakistani people have been taught that "They are most superior race", "One Muslim kills ten Hindus","They have won all their war with India" and many other rubbish fantasies. So any inferiority to India makes them uncomfortable. They believe what they were taught and they pursue it. This lead people to send their children for terror camps. People living in the world created by state and it's faulty education has no idea of the ground reality. But the top military leadership of Pakistan know what is the reality and the dream of equality with India is more a dream than reality. This can be tested with the argument that all wars with India initiated by Pakistan were never under a dictator regime. Military leadership would provoke civilian leadership for war and assure them the victory; whereas civilian leader in pursuing the dream of becoming national hero and the faulty knowledge which he gained as a child makes him to make a move. Once a war is initiated the military gets access to most of the resources a country has. To take a war to limit from where it they move forward it will cost them back Pakistani military leadership stop any more advancement and drop this to zero. Once it's dropped to zero the access to resources which army holds gets tighter and tighter to the day of fall of civilian government and rise of dictator regime.
What's in their for India?? We Indians always had this dilemma that we have to talk with Islamabad even tough we know real power resides in Rawalpindi. India can make this psycho-faith of Pakistani people in it's profit. India with continuous rise in economy assures it to continuously increase it's defense budget which makes the gap more wider and wider. Pakistan unable to digest will continuously fund it's military beyond it's capability. Such funding will keep increasing the power imbalance in Pakistan's institutional framework. This will make rise and fall of Democracy in Pakistan a periodical phenomena. Which will make Pakistan weaker over time. And any issue can be resolved at the time of Dictator regime because we'll be talking to the one who holds the power.
