Much Is Riding On India’s Upgraded Tejas Light Fighter After Its First Flight
Issues with the original Tejas have led to a major upgrade less than a decade after the fighter originally entered limited service.www.twz.com
angad singh keeps making this point again and again, has any retired airmen from IAF penned any thoughts on practicality of this point? surely there is a role non-5th gen fighter jets for medium term.but the latter move invites questions about the viability of a fourth-generation fighter in what will very firmly be a fifth-gen world.
Have you considered the weight of the ASPJ pod versus the structural load rating of the outermost hardpoint?
Excellent! Dispersed basing is going to be a very important capability if there ever was a real war breaking out since airfields will be under constant attack by cruise and ballistic missiles.Tejas carried out their maiden operations from an #ELF,

No it isn't. In most cases sorties carried out by the squadron will last for 30-45 minutes. For those sorties, the center drop tank or 2 inboard drop tanks are sufficient. Is it absolutely necessary to carry 3 drop tanks at all times?? Is the range that limited??!!
Ps - Sorry if I sound like a noob; but that's because I AM a noob when it comes to anything that flies.
So more tejas mk1 a coming
Situation is changed
Recently a tejas got crashed
Still they ordered it .....

movement of files on defence procurement months before elections is itself unprecedented. So more tejas mk1 a coming

Can the 2xBVR slot be fit with 3x BVR as triple mount rack. Like this, it increases total BVRs carried from 4 to 6,which I think is more than enough.
In this case it's only the tender which's been floated. Long way to go before order is placed. The last time MoD took 2 yrs IIRC to negotiate the price with HAL & place the order .movement of files on defence procurement months before elections is itself unprecedented.
in 2019, feb was when last approvals were given, procurement process resumed after elections.
in 2014 before elections, last major procurement activity was scrapping of agusta deal.
Also sorry for noob question, isn't Ldp pod basically for Air-To-Ground Targeting Role? The above configuration has no Bombs and full of Air-To-Air Munitions. Isn't a IRST pod better in case here.
This won't take as much time given it is a follow on order for the Tejas Mk1A with precedent having been set and benchmark prices from the first contract. In this case it's only the tender which's been floated. Long way to go before order is placed. The last time MoD took 2 yrs IIRC to negotiate the price with HAL & place the order .
So.. is CCS approval given.. or does it come later..?In this case it's only the tender which's been floated. Long way to go before order is placed. The last time MoD took 2 yrs IIRC to negotiate the price with HAL & place the order .
The engine is going to be a big barrier. US can cut supply any time.So more tejas mk1 a coming

Yeah, we are looking at some long-term US ass kissing. Hope US doesn't take U-turn and completely backstabs us.The engine is going to be a big barrier. US can cut supply any time.
Their are talks but let's see if talks actually turn into reality only time will tellAlternatively, fund the indigenous engine.
could be, HAL as lead integrator is dependant it's suppliers, the price they quote is sum total of what their vendors are quoting + their own work share. In this case it's only the tender which's been floated. Long way to go before order is placed. The last time MoD took 2 yrs IIRC to negotiate the price with HAL & place the order .
