Why did Thailand buy the Gripen C? Why did Hungary lease Gripen C? Why did the Czech Republic lease Gripen C?

They were considered more affordable to buy and operate when compared to even F-16s and had AMRAAMs as their primary BVRAAM with a very capable datalink.

However, none of these nations went on to buy any more Gripen Cs or even show interest in the Gripen E. Not even Thailand, which wanted F-35s (laughable given how small their budget it, how their infrastructure is and how close they are to China). Now that Thailand is definitely not getting F-35s, I'm still waiting to see if they show interest in the Gripen E or not.
Why would anyone buy Grippen when they have access to time tested F16 platform. Only a financial limitation or geopolitical bonhomiee can make one to take such decision.

5000kg for 3000km ferry is very much plausible for turbo jet engine at specific altitude.

Let me give you a solid turboprop example From C295 official brochure.
6000 kg fuel gets you 5700km ferry range.

Now do you think even Airbus is lying ??

Whole Farting process will again consume our 3 more valuable years to get the orders freezed.
3 years is less if we consider mk1A deal. lol

Heh .. you would be surprised to know that a good percentage of court cases are of govt departments suing one another ..
