Dry thrust Kaveri > Dry thrust F404. Afterburner section have issues which can be fixed but investment a 1 billion more is required. Already offered by safran. Do a favour and just read history and flaws of kaveri program before making claims like nationalistic fervour and shoot(shot) in foot.
Spitfire does not seem to know what he is talking about, there are no failures if you don't start on anything. Weird take....

Su is our mistake in such a huge number to be honest... It's huge RCS is a disadvantage.

The only good thing is we can use it as a bomb truck , to launch brahmos , and as mini AWACS if we can get a AESA radar. Also huge missiles can be loaded in it to act against AWACS of enemy.

If we hadn't bought so many of these machines Rafale or Su 57 are much better replacement.

It all depends on the strategy IAF employ to use them later. We can definitely replace radar ew suite etc but engine will be russian .
Not exactly. F15 is too a bomb truck. But it's electronics is world class. If Su30 can be upgraded to that level we have an world beating aircraft with us.
But we have to totally replace Russian avionics with Indian ones.

MKIs have israel's avionics not russian.
And new al 41 engine
Agree with it but defence matrix has put forward a counter point regarding engine upgrade. Worth watching that to. That also makes some sense.

Read later post don't jump in with not exactly .

They can afford F-15 how many Su can we afford and we need ? Giving up money for 300 around Su isn't a good choice instead we could have gone for more Mirage 2k/ Tejas MWF types.

Talking about an total rehaul. Starting from its mission computer, new HMD, new AESA, inbuilt Datalink comms, link 16 kinda hardware, internal EW suites etc. Most importantly Indian electronics and not even Israeli ones.

We shouldn't pay to any others for the upgrade. Should do it ourselves. If we are going to develop most electronics and avionics for Amca then we should be able to do for Su30 too except for the engine.

U r asking super sukhoi. Thats in process already. Let them finalise on plan as most probably line will run dry once 12 additional MKIs order is done with (contract signing pending). After that plan is for 24 upgrades a year with all that u stated. For keeping future OEM support and if they go for AL 41 engines russia might be involved or else we are good to proceed by ourselves.

There won't be a new engine HVT sir had confirmed that last year.Costs too much and will render all the experience we have gained from all useless
But we could see the existing ones being updated with domestic or russi tech

u can't update engines thrust. I havn't seen what HVT said but plans are ever evolving. I am just saying higher thrust engine would help. Can we get it, what are logistics thats point of discussion.
