Ah just re-watched those old footages of Tejas in airshows...
We have a standard theme song chosen. It's PACIFIC RIM THEME SONG..

THERE ARE THINGS YOU CAN'T FIGHT. ACTS OF GOD. YOU SEE HURRICANE COMING , YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY.

BUT WHEN YOU ARE IN TEJAS , SUDDENLY YOU CAN FIGHT THE HURRICANE. YOU CAN WIN.

just a question since i'm noob when it comes to electronics etc;
this jamming pod's shape is quite similar to those laser IR targeting pods etc meant for underbelly pylon on Tejas;
say, by any engineering magic and all, can we integrate both in one single unit ? granted it may go heavier but underbelly centreline pod on Tejas can already withstand 1200 KG for that fuel tank attachment so maybe we can sacrifise a bit there and give that towards this proposed "targeting pod + self protecting jammer pod" unit ?

Reminder that DRDO started to make indigeneous jammer pod for Su-30MKI when the IAF complained that russian supplied one was heavier plus it used to be mounted on wingtips and in return ruining flight envelope on that one, worse was it had limited compatibility, capabilities with our other custom solutions on Su-30MKI...
So yeah, can we try to attempt similar here by combining both pods for same "LD" pylon under Tejas ?
centerline pylon carries 0nly 800 kg internal fuel tank
outer pylons of tejas mk1 were strengthened to carry 300 kg weight in FSED 2 in 2009 , when IAF asked fr higher weight , IR cooled R73E in place of obsolete R60

SO one outer wing pylon can carry two CCMs , if the need arises

It may be possible fr another outer wing pylon to carry one CCM & an SPJ

SO in two pylons tejas may carry 3 CCms & a SPJ pod

weight & space allowance as well as cooling is there

however we need confirmtion officially

Tejas SPJ is new & compact ( with GAN some say) so weight may be lesser

EW pods are lways fitted at extreme wing pylons for better performance , ie with least interference to other electronics

Its the norm in man bigger twin engined fighters as well

I dont remember him change his "song"
I follow him for the past few years on twitter
I hvnt watched his Youtube channel much
Secondary sources related to defence is not credible unless they link it back to official....but good enough to get a sense and possibly correct to certain extent. Many times they retraced or made assumptions.

Some ballast weight has been removed and LRUs rearranged. But there is no any official source on how much the weight has been reduced. The open sources quotes from 300-500Kg as per Ajay Sukla, Livefist. But then the MK1A has also got newer and heavier sensors/equipment's like heavier radar, refueling probe etc. So the internal fuel capacity may not have changed.
some ballast 150 KG plus is removed & will be replaced by cooling unit for AESA which also is said to be of same weight

There are repors that due to new additions weight has gone upto 7 tons as well

only when Mk1A flies we can know the weight

but one thing is sure all that extra weight is for deadly stuff, that increasses its battle survivaability & effectiveness many times

not dead weight as some want you to believe

And it now has 40 kw generator that can feed multiple EW pods

a radar that can detect another tejas 140 kms away, (no fficial cconfirmation, from credible source)

all in all it will have a much bigger AESA radar than gripen E

ANd the newest specialized EW pod developed indigenously to defeat enemy sensors & missiles

Any plans for dual rack pylon in center ? Something like below

90° configuration if space constraints is there .

in most combat scenarios most fighters fly with twwo drop tanks for most of the tim, i.e if they hv to take a longer sortie,

for india which has enemies right at the border, these max load, max fuel , stats are irelevant
HVT sir in one of his tweet mentioned Tejas having more the jaguar

Damn. Still one of the best introduction to an Movie and also best Soundtrack. Shame the second part is absolute human poop compared to this masterpiece.

The max load-out that can be carried by the Tejas Mk1A on it's outer pylons will be:

1 X ASPJ (on one outermost pylon)
2 X ASRAAM (dual rack on other outermost pylon)

The weight of the pylon, adaptor, ASRAAM missile + ASPJ will exceed the weight capacity of the outermost hardpoint.
