J&K theater needs Sukhoi and Rafale not LCA IOC.Intercept when there is a need, Srinagar is safer than Pathankot or Jaisalmer to station them plus irritate chinese too a bit?
reason for it?Intercept when there is a need, Srinagar is safer than Pathankot or Jaisalmer to station them plus irritate chinese too a bit?
Again Pathankot and Jaisalmer are probably too risky vs Srinagar. Y?Pakis on offence mostly will target Pathankot, Srinagar, Jaisalmer and one other in Gujarat first, Pathankot and Jaisalmer are probably too risky vs Srinagar. Too forward to place Sukhois in Srinagar and totally unnecessary considering SU's role in IAF....Tejas will take mig21 role and Srinagar....just my thinking. Cheaper too relatively
My tauji was posted in Pathankot back in the day and he mentioned at the time that there are 2 pilot's sitting in the aircraft on shifts and once Pathankot is out, they could almost get to Ambala on risk....I think strategically Pathankot is high value and an easy shot for them to takeAgain Pathankot and Jaisalmer are probably too risky vs Srinagar. That i understand completely. But y as a point defense fighter Tejas should be avoided there. And which fighter should then be in that role there? My tauji was posted in Pathankot back in the day and he mentioned at the time that there are 2 pilot's sitting in the aircraft on shifts and once Pathankot is out, they could almost get to Ambala on risk....I think strategically Pathankot is high value and an easy shot for them to take
Since its just inducted I guess its just a bit safer risk overall until logistics and any issues that come up do not compromise the very very forward nature of some of these other bases....total speculation from my side and nothing more. That i understand completely. If we are preferring Migs over Tejas for point defense even when the Pilots have more than 5-6 years flight experience on the same then it doesn't say much about us, our confidence on platform and our planning. I thought srinagar is chosen to move in both direction loc and lac.Since its just inducted I guess its just a bit safer risk overall
Maybe srinagar for safe base and moving it regularly to pathankot and nearby for experience , mk1a and foc will go to pathankot and for that we need some experience with tejas there ,If we are preferring Migs over Tejas for point defense even when the Pilots have more than 5-6 years flight experience on the same then it doesn't say much about us, our confidence on platform and our planning. Huh, there is risk assessment for everything and operational issues and real time experience. They will replace mig-21s in due time.If we are preferring Migs over Tejas for point defense even when the Pilots have more than 5-6 years flight experience on the same then it doesn't say much about us, our confidence on platform and our planning. Risk assessment will be same for both fighters and tejas will come at top over Migs on risk mitigation by any factor. Fighter pilots of Tejas squadron won't be uncalamatised with operation procedures in LOCs as most were previously Migs pilot only I guess. This doesn't make any sound sense. If the goal is to give a safe base than Sulur is best place.Huh, there is risk assessment for everything and operational issues and real time experience. They will replace mig-21s in due time.
It does not work like that....I work for a company that owns factories all over the world and when we make changes to componentry there is a methodology to it and risk assesment to not introduce hits to critical value things and most things are piloted and done in phases. Lot of issues come up even from best of the breed products, no replacement for real field experience. Srinagar is as good as any and even better considering altitude for testing and under current scenario vs ChinaRisk assessment will be same for both fighters and tejas will come at top over Migs on risk mitigation by any factor. Quiet sure Risk mitigation is not the reason which is being quoted for move to Srinagar base. It should be logistics or combat role decision. It does not work like that....I work for a company that owns factories all over the world and when we make changes to componentry there is a methodology to it and risk assesment to not introduce hits to critical value things and most things are piloted and done in phases. Attack on jaisalmer means total all out war.Pakis on offence mostly will target Pathankot, Srinagar, Jaisalmer and one other in Gujarat first, Pathankot and Jaisalmer are probably too risky vs Srinagar. Correct but risk of introducing changes to bases in Punjab, Gujarat or Rajasthan is probably strategic in nature, normally when Pakistan attacks they go for all bases in that line. Srinagar is vulnerable too obviously but different in nature? as I said speculation based on bits and pieces I conversed really long time ago. Possibly logistics and what not....Out of my three relatives, one was a radar specialist and the other AD and the cousin cdr in navy....all retired now and has been for a whileAttack on jaisalmer means total all out war.
However for anything like 26/27 feb type fight srinagar is more vulnerable.
Don't know, I only visited them in Jaisalmer, Gwalior and Junagadh....Quiet sure Risk mitigation is not the reason which is being quoted for move to Srinagar base. It should be logistics or combat role decision.
Any idea on which squadron is in pathankot?
An attack on those three means was as it will be crossing IB not LOC. Srinagar is on attack line for skirmishes without escalating to war.Correct but risk of introducing changes to bases in Punjab, Gujarat or Rajasthan is probably strategic in nature, normally when Pakistan attacks they go for all bases in that line.
